They never say that this is the offenders bike, and in fact I doubt it is...

But I don't know how to feel about it.

Someone at the T.V. station must of had a Valk to use as stock 'cycle footage altho they said it was a "Harley Hog", driven by the suspect.

Maybe a better solution would have been for the officer to offer to take the child home this one time, provided he promise not to do it again OR, the grandfather could get written up - then let him decide.  Poor choice by Grandpa.

I have never taken my 3 year old for a ride on the MC.

Now... he rides the quad with me a lot.  But not in traffic.

I'm not gonna defend Grampa here, but in this wonderful state of MI, we had ledgeslators try to pass a bill into law that would make it illegal for anyone below the age of 16 the right to straddle, let alone ride a motorcycle.

This bill would have given police the authority to come on your property to seize the M/C and arrest any and all violators regardless of the offender (child or adult).

The AMA helped to squash this lunacy from Lansing MI.

I know how to feel about it.
He needs to drag her ass into court and explain how a traffic ticket became a felony in less time than you can say, "PMS".

She wrote the ticket, see if she can prove endangerment before the city is sued for official oppression.

Can't hide stupid!  uglystupid2
Since there is no law for being an idiot the officer had to call the arrest "endangerment".

Obviously the idiot wasn't going to back down, he got what he deserved.  In the end, it will be pleaded down in court.

Bull. He got a ticket, that's what he deserved. The cop abused her office and abridge his right to criticize the government. If the guy's smart he'll snag an ACLU lawyer and fry her pie.

Im not defending this guy.  I think he was stupid.  I think it was dangerous and I can even go so far as endangerment.  However, Mike has a point and this guy (as wrong as he was with the kid) also had a point.  I get frustrated with our LE.  They will pull over folks, write tickets, ... but they leave the KNOWN drug heads and dealers alone. You want the real dangerous folks.  Go after THEM.  Oh wait... that could be dangerous.  Nah, lets go after the sheep.

The fact is, she didnt take him in because of the child.  If that were the case she would have took him in right off the bat.  She took him in because of his mouth.  THAT was the crime.  His speech and disrespect of her was the crime, and THATreally ISNT a crime.

I won't split hairs over carrying a kid on a tank. I've never done it and won't do it. I think it's risky but I've never heard of a kid being injured from riding on the tank, and I've been around bikers for a while.
The grandpa should have said absolutely nothing to the cop. Since he did, the cop's answer should have been, "Yes, sir, have a nice day".

A couple weeks back, I ran across a cop video of SWAT types raiding a house with a small child inside.  They threw in flash grenades, kicked down the door, and shot and killed a pit bull that was in a pen, as well as a welsh corgi.
They searched the house and found only a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.  Since they couldn't pin a real charge on the residents they charged them with, that's right... "child endangerment".. because of the marijuana.  You'd think that flash grenades and gunfire would be more dangerous, wouldn't you?

It's like we're living in some kind of twisted Oprah World were the magic words, "It's for the chilllllldren" give the cops and bureaucrats carte blanche to run roughshod over the public.
