I was quite surprised with the results of doing the Ragner Cut to the OEM exhaust that I replaced my Viking exhaust with.
Not only does it sound better then the Viking pipes, I've got more power. And, it seems a little more power then the intact OEM pipes.
The OEM's were 100% intact until yesterday. All I did was the Ragner cut to the rear baffles, then 18" tips. I did not touch the front baffles.
I believe it's a better balance with a safe amount of back-pressure reduction. I have 38 slows [35's OE] with the pilots at 1.75 turns. It was running a bit rich at 1.75 prior to the "cut". Air intake seems to be increased [K&N with prefilter - existing] and it's running well, The cuts leaned the mixture perfectly, IMO. Oh, did I mention better sound then Viking's!!! Does it sound sweet when you get on it. Unlike the raspy Viking's. I was never quite happy with the Viking's even from new.
Edit: I also went back to the OE needles.
Here's a vid after the "Cut".
Audio quality is
TERRIBLE on my camera. It makes it sound tinny and there's the occasional "scratchy chirping". I think there's a small tear to the microphone.
I'll see about borrowing a camera to redo it for better sound reproduction.
