Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

The 3rd Annual ROMP IN THE SWAMP - sounds like it will be a "go" for October 29th - 31st, 2010 in St. Amant, Louisiana.  Yep, another Halloween hoot - so ride in......if you dare.  Evil

With my work schedule, I was not going to be able to get a Romp put together this year, but Flatbusted and Wetpaint talked to me at Ranger's First Annual BBQ and Washer Toss about them putting one on over in St. Amant.  It sounded like a great idea at the time and things started coming together, so it looks like a GO for a 3rd Annual Romp in the Swamp for 2010 after all.

I know that Cajun Rider also volunteered to put one back on in Lafayette, but the hotel management team that we dealt with is gone and the rooms had gone up to a rate that was not reasonable any longer.  We have spent the last two years seeing things of interest in the Cajun Capital of Lafayette and thought it would be good to move it around the state a little so we can share in the fellowship of other areas of this great state and so, this year the venue is moving locations.  (Hey, I get to play TOURIST this year!)

More details will be posted as more comes together, but I wanted to post the dates so you can mark your calenders.  Oct 29-31.  St Amant is about 20 miles south of Baton Rouge and about 50 miles from New Orleans.  If you look at a map, just look for Gonzales off of I-10 between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Man, the plans that Flatbusted sent me sounds like an awesome weekend with a lot of meeting, eating and greetings.  Anyone who has attended either of the first two Romps will know that a ROMP is more of a big family get together and block party than a rally if you know what I mean.  We tend to center things around meeing and eating with lie telling and tire kicking thrown in.  We try to share our culture as much as we can since Louisiana has a culture all it's own - one of the traits that we are proud of and that makes Louisiana unique.  Well, the area we will be riding to has a culture that is different than Lafayette and it sounds like the crew over there are going all out to share it with us.  I will be just a big a tourist to this area as everyone else.

Much more to come as Flatbusted and Wetpaint get the details put together.  From what they have leaked out to me, it sure sounds like a MAJOR LARGE TIME IS GOING TO BE PASSED yeah.

WETPAINT and FLATBUSTED are doing all the work on this - and deserve a round of applause of keeping the ROMP going for the 2010 riding season.  Thanks!

It sounds like we are going to be passing a very large time for Halloween with some fellow ghouls and goblins in Ascension Parish this year......So mark your calenders - if you dare.....   Evil crazy2 Evil

An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
A-plowing through the ragged sky and up the cloudy draw

Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry

Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Yippie yi yaaaaay
Ghost Riders in the Swamp

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat
He's riding hard to catch that herd, but he ain't caught 'em yet
'Cause they've got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
On horses snorting fire
As they ride on hear their cry

As the riders loped on by him he heard one call his name
If you want to save your soul from Hell a-riding on our range
Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride
Trying to catch the Devil's herd, across these endless skies

Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Yippie yi Yaaaaay

Just checked and Louisiana is listed as the most haunted state in America.  What a place to spend Halloween.

Home to ghouls, goblins, voodoo, hoodoo and all kind of stuff......

Like I said, this sounds like a major HOOT that those two folks from St Amant are putting together.
