I have a 2000 I/S with 52,000, 21 that I put on in the past 10 months. I desmogged it 8k ago and have done all service (2nd Valkyrie I have owned) after a recent trip to the Keys and final drive service I have noticed an occasional very small pop from the exaust. I have noticed no difference in gas mileage or performance. Any ideas. Thanks. Notice at idle a pop every 5 secs or so, and at high idle.

have you checked your vacuum hoses?  How about your exhaust header bolts?  Have you had your exhaust off recently?  Did you replace the header gaskets?  Those are the only "little" things that I can think will cause popping.

I wouldn't worry about it much at all.  Probably the carbs are a little out of sync.

I would say the word "pop" is a little deceiving and the sound is actually very little at all.

Yeah, synchronizing the carburetors would probably get rid of the noise.

Me,,, it is so slight that I don't even think about it at all. Ethanol enriched gas seems to aggravate it a little.
