I had an Avon Cobra 200/60/16 until last weekend, when I put on a car tire.  Oh, look what I've started now.  crazy2  I did like the way the Avon handled over the Dunlop and Metzler.    I know other's have their own opinion on tires.    Cheesy  tickedoff  Get ready, you did ask   uglystupid2

Welcome, Boo,

It seems like the Avon Cobra is the most popular motorcycle tire with significant representation from Metzeler, Dunlop, and Bridgestone and the Goodyear Triple Tread Assurance is the most popular "non-motorcycle tire"  Wink  with significant representation from General Altimax, Cooper Zeon, Michelin HyrdroEdge, Hankook, Fuzion, Toyo, and others.

A really good starting point will be to go to the Tech Board http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/board,5.0.html and search the archives to read LOTS of cussin' and discussin'.

The Battle Ax was the best riding handling rear tire I ever had on my Valk, just hard to get over 9k for me? If I ever wear out my CT I'll go back to that, or the more expensive Cobra seems to ride handle as well and get better milage.  No complaints from the Battle-Ax...LOVED that tire cooldude

I have beena Metzeler guy... other than  my recent conversion to NMS tires.

I don't think there is any big news that you're unaware of.

Had the Cobra on the back for 5000 miles now.  Absolutely the best rear tire I have ever run... which have included the original Dunlops, Metzelers, and older Avons.

Wearing very well, and from the moment I put it on, my scooter runs on a rail through the curves.

No comments about car tires... to each his/her own.

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

I just switches to the Elite 3's and so far I have no complaints, I rode the dog snot out of them at Smokin Joe's ride Saturday and I like em, but again all have an opinion. I put 1100 miles on them just this weekend and cannot find anything that is worth complaining about, lots of superslab, but also some awesome curves thanks to Joe. As for longeivity I will have to see.
