did not do the ragnar cut. I am still not sure if I need to shim the carbs.
I read it once and thought you had to shim if you did the ragnar cut, the other time I read it I thought it meant you had to shim if you drilled the front baffles.
Does anybody know for sure?

I cant answer your question specifically to the Ragner Cut but a quick way is to check the color of your plugs.  If too light you are running too lean and would need to either shim the needles or change needles.

All bikes are different so one person may need to shim and another who performed the same surgery does not.

Hope this helps.

Normal throttle setting at normal cruising speed will not be in the "needle" range.

You would be in the "low" speed jet range.

So if you must change something it should be the idle jets.

A turn out on the idle jet screw is all that would probably be necessary but even that may not be called for.

Drilling the baffles sometimes is not an improvement and the results can be counterproductive.

The way I interpreted the Ragnar cut info, was you need to shim if you've done the Ragnar cut AND drilled the front baffles.

Drilling the rear and front baffles, you don't need to shim.

At least, that's the way I read it.

btw....I did the Ragnar cut and haven't touched a thing.....front baffles are still untouched though.
