Anybody know what causes battery to dehydrate?

If you mean loosing water, usually overcharging.

could be a problem with your alternator, putting too much charge in. regulator burned out maybe?

or if the battery is really dehydrating you could have a crack in the battery case itself

anything over 15.5 volts with the motor running  1000-2000 rpm is overcharging the battery.

manual says check at 5000 rpm WTH

Anything over 14.5 is high and a bad battery that is sulfated will also cause problems.

as far as i know either gel or AGM batteries are used in three Valk ...i.e.no liquid..

Measure the voltage on the multimeter when the engine runs
at 5,000 rprn.
STANDARD :
Measured battery voltage (page 16-51 <Measured charging
voltage (see above) (<15.5 V at 5,000 rprn"

Thanks for the help. This was a problem my brother was having on his V Star 1100. After replacing the battery with a new one from Walmart he still had the problem but he`s working on it. Thanks again!

You are right, Shocked  but its still to high,  Grin  batteries fully charged at ;12.3 volts dont like to be charged at 15.5 they will die a early death  Cry
