I took a friend as a passenger on a charity Ride. Ride for Dad (Prostrate Cancer) . Day went fine. When I got back I noticed a Smudge on the Pipes. Whatever. Tried some elbow grease to get it off. Still not totally clean. Anybody got any Home Remedies to get er back to normal?

good quaility chrome polish should do it (Mother's, S100,etc.) If it's really burned on try Easy Go Oven Cleaner COLD, not the stuff for hot ovens. Put it on, let it set a bit, scrape with a piece of plastic-follow up with good polish.

I use car wax.
on a HOT exhaust. As hot as it'll go. Leave the bike running.
Use a THICK towel or rag.
Use quite a bit of the wax on the rag, and rub the shoe spot. It should come right off in a matter of a minute or two.
I am BAD about shoe spotting the pipe, getting to the kickstand. It'll clean right up.

I've never heard of doing it this way, but I'm going to give it a try. I too am guilty of hitting the pipe with my heel far too often.

Smart & Final sells a product called Carbon Off. I've used it on the pipes to remove melted shoe heels.

an "sos" scouring pad dipped in a little water does the trick on a hot or cold pipe. It won't scratch the chrome. Giff

You're lucky it isn't a Walmart bag melted on your pipe. That stuff turns into a hard baked on mess that will not dissolve no matter what you use.

Aluminum or metal polishing compound on a cold pipe with a dremel tool with a small polishing bonnet will take it right off. Been there done that.

+1 on 0000 steel wool. I use it to clean up my pipes and rims, doesn't leave a mark on anything.

BOY. Just like "BELLY BUTTONS" , everyone has one. Kidding, before I get flamed. Some great advise that is new to me. I will add one. DAWN Power Dissolver. Will clean Burnt-On Grease off grilles / pots and pans and will kill your paint job.

I use a product called NeverDull on all my chrome. It is a wadding metal polish. Pull a piece off and rub the boot marks and it comes right off. Buff with a clean cloth.

Got home from a week-end trip a few weeks ago - was unloading the valk and noticed about a 1-1/2 inch spot on the pipe that turned out to be from Jenny's shoe. (Perfect radius melted from her heel) This spot was about a 1/8" thick at the highest point. I used electrical contact cleaner in a rag and after a few applications it all came off. Don't get this on your paint!!! Followed up with chrome polish and good as new....

If the previous 26 home remedies don't work, touch your heal on the right hot pipe and it will look custom. :2funny

Had the same thing happen to me...took an old rag and soaked part of it with wd-40 and laid it on COLD pipes and let it sit for about 5 minutes, the with a fingernail, lightly scratched it all off....then wiped with soapy water and dried with a towel...the trick is to wait until it browns over before removing...

No problem. I recently burned a set of frogg toggs onto the pipe of my IS. I tried the brake cleaner. THAT worked great too. I had a buddy spill, of ALL things Mountain Dew on my pipe. I didn't think ANYTHING of it. Burnt on Mountain Dew is the HARDEST thing I have EVER tried to remove. Jabba

Came back from Sturgis and noticed a leaky bottle dripping on the pipe. Nothing gets it off. Had the same thing happen on the other pipe but dont remember spilling anything on it.
