Hello All
Ok heres the deal!
I bought a 1999 I/S after a few rides I noticed the fan never came on.So I just let it run till the light came on.
So I take it apart and follow the power from the motor fan back till where I have power. And I found this thing. If I take it out and connect the wires fan works like should.
What is this thing for and do I need it?

There is a filter capacitor across the fan motor leads to reduce radio noise from the motor.  They have been known to fail.  That'd be my guess anyway.

Have you opened it up?

It looks like there might be a fuse under that shrink tape.

No fuse, but I did smoke mine, I added an aftermarket filter, it works fine.
But I'm running some serious fans.
