Here's another newbie question for you vets out there.

What is the difference in capacity and specs between the Standard, Tourer and Interstate gas tanks?

I have a standard and would like to eventually put an Interstate tank on not only for the supposed increase in fuel but also for the fuel gauge option.

The Standard tank is 5.3 gallons where the Interstate tank is 6.9 gallons. It's one of the best improvements you can do.

Is there any issue regarding proper fit with the front seat on my standard?  ???

Your standard seat will fit...it is just a little more snug than with a standard tank.

Your seat will fit but you can do a "Nose Job" on your seat. It involves removing the vinyl and cutting off some foam. Also, the I/S tank has a fuel guage so a sending unit is on the bottom of the I/S tank. You can block the hole or install a sending unit. Motosens makes a fuel guage which can be used on a standard when mounted on the handlebar.

So, where would one come up with a I/S tank?  Cost?

they look similar, but the IS version is a bit wider and higher in the front, and is higher where the seat touches.
mounting is the same.
you will need to shim the IS tank if you have stacks on your carbs.
