i filled my gas tank up and drove about 2 miles and parked my the bike .. it was in the sun parked about 2 hours.. and i was walking towards my bike and notice gas dripping on the ground... i opened the tank out to release the pressure... what causes this? is there a bad hose somewhere? or just pressure built up from the heat? thanks for your help in advance.. all suggestions are appreciated...emrik

How full did you fill the tank? If you had the bike straight up and down and filled it past the bottom of the neck there could be expansion problems. If this was the case, the fuel would expand into the vent tube and leak out near the kickstand ( if the original plumbing is unmolested and you have a non california model).
A greater concern is the dreaded hydrolock problem. If you have a malfunctioning petcock and a sticking float on a carb, the cylinder can become filled with gas. When you hit the starter bad stuff happens to the starter and a gear on the rear of the engine. A search will pull up more info then you can imagine on hydrolock. Testing your petcock would be the first step in this.
With hydrolock It is possible to have the exhaust valve partially open and have fuel go out the exhaust and through the weep holes in mufflers.
Personally, if I came out to see a pool of gas under the bike I would check the vent hose to see if it is wet. The next thing, even if it was wet, would be to pull all six plugs and crank the bike over to make sure I wasn't hydrolocked.
Not much help for you, without knowing where the fuel was and how full you filled the tank.

Sounds like a thermo-expansion illustration to me.

It has happened to me a couple of times, too much gas in the tank and the good old Texas sun. I try now to fill up at a time that I'm gonna run at least 20 or 30 minutes after fueling.

Happen to me a week ago. Filled the tank rode about 2 miles stopped and gas flow. I have an electric gas shut off valve on my bike so I don't worry about hydrolock.
