Is there anyone around the SC/NC area who could rebuild my carburetors? I don't trust the dealers to know the Valk carbs intimately. I would be glad to compensate...wouldn't expect it for free.

The previous, previous owner installed Cobra 6 into 6s and rejetted, the previous owner put on a set of stock of stockers and didn't rejet. I want to put it back with stock jets and generally overhaul the carbs so it runs like my last 3 Valks....this one is sick under full throttle.......  Art

the cobra exhaust jet kit consisted only of new richer needles and slide springs. the main jets are not part of the kit and most likely where never changed $$$.  the cobra needles are adjustable. just pull them out, see shop talk and raise the clip one notch, 2 notches I believe will be too lean. the kit I tend to remember sets the clip at #3 position. move it higher and turn your idle mixture screws close 1/2 a turn. see how she runs.
or just get a set of oem needles, somebody should have a set for sale in the classifieds.
go to the tech section of factorypro.com great info on how to tune the three circuits of cv carbs.
