I heard this on the radio today.  I CANNOT believe that these bozos interpreted this as a racial comment on a Hallmark Card!  Yes, they are BOZOS!!  If I was black or a whore, I would be offended by the things that these people are saying (on the ABC video, not the card).

The card is CLEARLY talking about the fact that the graduate can conquer just about anything in the solar system/universe and NOT a race of people or ho's.

Man, you're right PB, these people will try to be offended over anything.

honda is gonna be next..........................all you guys with the fast black valks, you'll have to start refering to them as "a differant shade of grey fast valks" and how about them kids and thier boo boos? you wont beable to to call them bruises black and blue anymore.

you better not let the NAACP see this post "Ugly brown spot"
or this one"Chicago Black Hawks!"
and does this mean that we can no longer watch re-runs of old westerns? cause RErun was a demeaning name given to a fat colored kid in the sit-com Whats Happening

A few years back I lost a friend that was my walking partner.  His name was Ernest Walker, everyone called him "Tack", and he was black.  He was originally from Selma Alabama.

We kidded each other about many things and talked about the race issue.  Tack was very outgoing, very friendly, and a lifelong member of his church.

I asked him one time if he ever felt that he was being discriminated against . He said NO.  In all his traveling in the states, he said that he and his wife, Bertha, never saw the race card played against him.  When he retired from his job, a collection among board members was started by the president of the company that he worked for and he was given $1,000 in cash.

When Tack died of prostate cancer, I went to his funeral showing and was welcomed by all of his relatives in his Baptist church.  At first I was the only white person but in a short while three or four fire trucks pulled up and a stream of firefighters, white, black, and hispanic, honored him by talking to his family and filing past his casket.  It seems that 'Tack' was giving donations to the fire department regularly because he was 'blessed' in his life.

In the years that I got to know him, I was much impressed by Tack and his outlook on life.

I'm not impressed by the blacks that profit financially and politically by constantly playing the 'Race Card'.

I've been thinking of writing the manufacturers of Ritz, Saltine and other various manufacturers of "Crackers"...... I'm thinking I should find that offensive.   coolsmiley

Yes, Glenn Beck makes money in what he does.  Most, if not all people make a living at what they do.

I'm so glad that the Mankind Project doesn't make money since it's  non profit, even though the costs for a weekend rebuilding seminar for men averages about $650.00 . It seems to me that the Mankind project is based on being offended by how we men were raised by our father.... but I could be wrong  Carry on Wayne or Warrior Strong Eagle.

Yeh, Wayne... you're wrong.  That's not what the Mankind Project is about at all.  And if you had any baseline data for the costs of any seminar, you'd see that $650 is reasonable, especially in this litigious age, where anything other than sitting in a seat attracts huge insurance premiums.

But, that's not really the point.  The real point is your mis-characterization of MKP... apologies if you are offended... and, you speak from a position of ignorance, don't you?

Yeah, I'm one of the Unwashed and Uneducated riders on this forum.  I bow to your superior intelligence. Roll Eyes

However, I would ask, in all fairness, that lurkers here do their own research on your Group and come to their own conclusions.

After all, that's only fair.

Did I claim superior intelligence?  Just a red herring on your part.  And if you are unwashed, most locales throughout the world do have showers and running water.  Sounds like people can be offended over just about anything, the original title of this post.

Cheers, Wayne... I expect a beer in an ice house might smooth a few things over.

I know what my post said.  If I say he is ignorant, that means I believe he is untutored in a specific subject.  I made no comments whatsoever regarding his intelligence (which I judge to be above average... not that this judgment is worth two spits in a bucket... I've not spent the time with the man).  Wayne may well be smarter than me... and I've never challenged his mental faculties.

You misread, and you fail to differentiate between 'ignorant' and 'stupid'.  I'd never say Wayne is stupid; I do think he spoke out of turn, and without background when he decided to inject the Mankind Project into this conversation.

And in turn, if you think that because I challenge someone, I somehow consider myself "smarter" you've truly missed the boat.

SE, don't try to dig yourself out.  Let's be up front and honest;  you called my father ignorant.  This seems to be a normal tactic for yourself;  you don't agree with someone, you call them ignorant.  You are smart, you know what the word means.
I don't care about your backpeddling and revisionist history in this regard, you said it, you deal with it.  You see, adults live by the consequences of their actions and their words instead of saying "I didn't mean that" or "you misread it" or whatever.  Leave the "I didn't say thats" to the politicians.
Ok, as far as my thread being hijacked and all that, I believe it was you who did it with your Glenn Beck comment.  My post didn't bring any politics into it at all, just the fact of how a certain organization seemed to be looking to be offended over an innocuous greeting card.  You had to make the comment about Glenn Beck, so my father responded.
Now, onto the Mankind Project.  From my albeit limited and obviously ignorant research I came across this website:

http://forum.rickross.com/read.php?4,12552

The first thing that grabbed my attention was Carl Griesser, Executive Director for The ManKind Project saying that the posting of excepts of their literature was violating their copyright.
This got me to thinking....  why is a "non profit" organization needing to defend a copyright?  Since a copyright is basically an ownership of intellectual property for the sole use of the possessor to profit from said property.  What does the organization fear by this information being put out there for fair use and criticism?  What are they hiding?
This is nearly identical to another "non profit" organization's m.o. when it comes to criticism of their organization and tactics.  I am, of course, speaking of the "church" of Scientology.  Their litigious attitude is legendary when anyone questions their motives.  The old paraphrase comes to mind:  "Methinks thou doth protest too much."

I love people that are so smart; they don't realize how stupid they sound.

I have two older brothers with college degrees.  One has a masters degree in music, the other has a duel engineering degree, electronics and mechanical.  One just had his house foreclosed on; the other hasn't worked in two years.  College don't mean squat in my eyes.  I don't care how superior SE thinks he is, to throw his "superior intellect” around like he’s some kind of mr know it all, and he has the right to call others opinions ignorant truly disgusts me.

I can go on with several other “college educated” losers that I know of, but that would make me sound vindictive to those who pursue a higher education.

There will be no reply to any of his “insulting” replies to my post.

Copyright implies much more than a commercial aspect.  Why do you think a non profit doesn't have a right to copyright, same as the rest of us?

Again, you saw something that wasn't there.  I said why does a "non profit" need to DEFEND a copyright so vehemently?  My inference is that they SEEM to be trying to hide something.  But, then again, after about 3 hours of research on the 'net, I found a lot of similar stories about the MKP.  What is the deal with the black commando uniforms and the blackface makeup?!?

It is quite a group SE is with and formed.  Maybe 1/2 of 1% of normal Americans would agree with its radical views.  About the same as here!
