For over a year now I’ve been writing and reading comments regarding the Honda Valkyrie motorcycles, and on a few occasions political opinions and frustrations regarding the current administration.
For the most part, it’s all been in good humor. We all can agree that the motor cycle built in Milwaukee Wisconsin is an over rated, inferior, highly advertised machine that is best know for selling it’s image and logo on cheap T-shirts that are made in third world sweat shops.
But yet on some diatribes there comes the discussion of a political viewpoint. One elected official being better then the other. And if you disagree with that person’s political viewpoint you are considered to be an idiot, ignorant, stupid, and uneducated, moron.
I have read as many comments from SE that I can stand. It seems that for every single one of them, the insults are the first to be had. It saddens me to think that we have sunk to this childishly low standard of communications. I personally do not care for obama as president. I do not believe that any of the candidates I was offered to vote for would have been worth voting for. Sadly we are stuck with the individual we have now for about two in a half more years. The fact of the matter is that no matter who wins, we all lose. Seems like that’s the way it’s been for the last 20 years. Our national debt continues to rise, our jobs continue to go over seas, our borders continue to be violated on a daily basis, and I don’t care if the next president has a D or an R after their names, they most likely won’t do anything about anything.
These political arguments are best left for the political websites. This is a site for bashing Harleys, and other inferior motor cycles like BMW’s and that Victory thing, (proudly made in mexico). I don’t want to read about your father being an idiot because he doesn’t conform to SE’s view point, or what ever the guy’s pissed of about because you picked on his savoir obama.
I enjoy reading stories of ding-dongs in corvettes trying to race a Valk!! I enjoy pictures of the Valkyrie in front of national monuments! I want to see large titted women sitting on highly polished Honda Valkyries!!!! I don’t care who you voted for!! NOW, LETS RIDE!!!

Thank you for sharing. Just note that I've not started a single political thread, only responded to those started by others. My suggestion is that you not read my responses anymore.
What you call insults, I say is 'calling the bullsh*tters on the carpet". People who deal in non reality and call it fact... guys like ChrisJ... yes, I know who you are. Generalizations... appeals to populist sentiment... grandstanding... throwing out words like "socialism" that vary in definition from one post to the next... but definitely not speaking from a position of real knowledge of the subject... that is the definition of ignorance... so spare me the "insults", please. Just prove up that you're not actually ignorant of the subject to which you speak. God help us if ChrisJ was actually directing policy.
Fortunately, we have this President for 2 1/2 more years, and with a bit of luck, 4 more after that. It will take at least that long to undo the damage left by Bush junior. The world's changing... what worked even a decade ago is no longer relevant... and the speed of change is speeding up everyday. Time to pull your head out of the sand, wipe all those nostalgic tears from your eyes, and figure out how to deal with the reality that is today's world.
I ride every day. It's all urban... not much of an adventure... it's the little things... lane splitting with 1/2 inch on each side of the mirrors... rides up parking garage ramps that make MSF courses look simple... having the taxi driver roll down his window at the light and holler, "How much you pay?"... finding tourists sitting on my Valk taking vacation pictures... not really worth a ride report. And Alph, I'll close by saying this. I love my country. I care about it. I want it to be there in one piece for my children and grand children. I get attacked because I'm not in the majority here... and that doesn't make my views any less valid. Just have facts and not pandering "GlennBeckisms" if you want to have a real debate.

I had thought about not responding, but this is just too good. Strong Eagle, you hijacked my previous post. That was a non-political post that was showing how a select group of people got offended by a greeting card. That is all it was. Heck, I was surprised to see the response it got. But you had to bring politics into it by mentioning Glenn Beck. Then when my dad posted about a lot of people making money off of things like that, he mentioned the Mankind Project. You then proceeded to call him ignorant. I did some checking on here, by the way. You tend to use that word "ignorant" quite a bit. I don't really blame you, though. The ultra-liberal programming that you have absorbed in all of your varied experiences have probably made it hard to think of anything else to call someone who disagrees with you. A hint: Man up, admit you do this, apologize for previous unprovoked attacks on people, and don't do it any more.

Don't hold your breath P.B. for any apology. When you're never wrong, there's nothing for which to apologize !

Give him a break-after all, he is proud of his "personal growth", learned as a "New Warrior" Just imagine the crap we'd hear if he had not "grown" so well. Haven't you noticed his "connection to feeling"- I realy enjoy the wisdom he spouts as a non-resident who is almost completely out of touch with our country. He may actually deserve what Obama represents for the "next 2 1/2 years and with a bit of luck, 4 more after that"- the rest of us sure as hell don't.

LOL......God help us if I were the President......... Ya, youre right, Im not qualified to be the President......HOWEVER, Im way more qualified objectively and subjectively than our current "president" we have in office, and if someone with what you call "glenbeckish" values (which to me ) means belief that the Constitution of the United States should actually be followed, all you liberal big government feely willing to give our country away to criminals and terrorists......ya, you all would be fearing GOD ALMIGHTY because someone like me would move us back to a place where God meant something again, right now if you mention God, some pantywaist liberal athiest social activist jumps up and cries seperation of church and state.......its all part of the Fundamental Change.....dont be fooled, "president" Obama is not incompetent or stupid he is brilliant and he is moving his agenda with help from a roost full of criminal radicals......its just that his agenda is not very American and not any good for this nation at all.........

Another problem SE has with Beck is that Beck is very worried about Obamas run away spending. Adding 1.6 TRILLION to the debt every year for at least the next 5 years, according to Obamas estimates.
That is a terrible thing that Beck does, to worry about spending so much. SE I imagine would like to spend more?

MP, if you're interested in facts - not talking points - the fact is that Bush and the Repubs nearly doubled our national debt during Bushies admin. This "spending like a drunken sailor" (McCain quote) is typical of every Repub administration since WWII . Since 1946, Democratic presidents increased the national debt an average of 3.2% per year. The Republican presidents average an increase of 9.2% per year. Republican Presidents out borrowed and outspent Democratic presidents by a three to one ratio. Putting that in very real terms; for every dollar a Democratic president has raised the national debt in the past 63 years Republican presidents have raised the debt by $2.84. Comparing the borrowing habits of the two parties since 1981, when the Neo-Conservative movement really took hold and government spending raced out of control, it is extremely obvious that the big spenders in Washington are Republicans and their party’s presidents. The only Democratic president since then, Clinton raised the national debt an average of 4.3% per year. The Republican presidents (Reagan, Bush, and Bush II) raised the debt an average of 10.8% per year. That is, for every dollar a Democratic President has raised the national debt in the past 30 years, Republican presidents have raised the debt by $2.52[6]. Any way you look at it Republican presidents cannot or will not control government spending. When Bush took office, the national debt was $5.73 trillion. When he left, it was $10.7 trillion. As to deficits, when Bush took office we were set to have surpluses for several years. Not add 5 trillion in debt. And no, 9/11 didn't cause the deficits, it was Bushes response - to attack and occupy a country completely uninvolved with the 9/11 attacks. DOH So now, out of the trillions of debt you attribute to Obama, a little over half is INTEREST due on the republicans massive spending spree when they had control. Much of the rest is due to lower revenue attributed to the BIGGEST RECESSION IN HISTORY that Bush left Obama. But again, don't let the truth get in the way of a good rant. The sad fact is that both parties seem incapable of controlling their spending. The Republicans love their tax cuts and the Dems their social programs. Our system of government has been corrupted by the influence of money and special interests. I say vote them all out in hopes that it may take a few years for the newly elected to become as corrupt as those presently in office. We simply cannot continue to borrow 40 cents of every dollar we spend. I don 't claim to be an expert in economics but you need not be to see this will lead to disaster if it continues.

There it went again!! Listen up people...George Bush is no longer President!! Neither is the other George Bush....or Reagan...or Clinton!!! We can't do anything about them..we have to deal with the train wreck that is now in charge in D.C. I don't CARE who borrowed what in 1946. Let's deal with NOW! The current regime is as unAmerican (as a whole) as anyone I've ever met, heard or read. In November things will change quite a bit...for the better. That's my prediction, keep a copy of it and bring it up later if I'm proved wrong. As someone said, the problem isn't Reps or Dems, the problem is politicians. I'm going to rde my Valk to work tonight, even though it's supposed to rain. We have a NEW dog in the house..a Chihuahua that my neighbor found wandering around in the middle of the highway. Been trying to get a good pic to post but I can't seem to get one. That's important stuff

DITTO! I was debating that myself, it’s supposed to rain here tonight also. My wife is camping two hours away; I’ll be riding up there in the rain right after putting in 12 hours on the graveyard shift. I guess, if anyone of those pristine politicians could say that they've worked 12 hours in a day, I’d have a lot more respect for 'em. The thing about our elected officials is, none of them are American! None of them have ever held a job in real America! (Okay, that's were SE would say I’m ignorant 'cause I don't know that for sure, but I do know they don't live a working mans life, but they do take his money.)

I try I try, but can't stay quite.
Why, if the Bush administration's spending was considered "out of control" is the current administration given pass on 3 times as much! ( by they're own estimates )
That's like going 60mph and screaming it's to fast as Bush is driving down the road, but after a pit stop and a change of drivers, Obama set's off at 180mph, and suddenly it's ok?
You begin to think that it's not about the spending but more about the person.......
I'll call it insanity.....

I agree, you cannot blame the debt on one president, all of them and their political friends in congress have all helped out. I would love to vote them all out but with the system we have in place it will just be some more party individuals with politics as usual. I for one worry about what my children and grandchildren are going to have to deal with. Money corrupts, and in our current system money is more important than human life, the environment and the country itself.

My new neighbor has really big boobs.....for a guy! Just thought I'd throw something on the fire that's almost as irrelevant. Another thought, how about we.......aww fergit it. It would just mean I have to go back and read what I wrote to make sure the spelling was close to correct, or punctuation was used at least once in a three page epistle, or the written grammer was close to how one speaks, silly stuff like that, so it just ain't worth it. Not trying to zing any one person or post, but sometimes the post as written is more hilarious than the message. And I darn sure am not setting myself up as an example of correctness, just having a little fun at the expense of everyone...me included, so don't get'em in a wad ladies.

From my perspective, we all seem to be pretty tolerant of each others viewpoints, understanding that if we all saw things the same way, some of us wouldn't be necessary. I think it boils down to, "SE just doesn't play well with others."

Yeah, I agree with that, personally, I enjoy SE's perspective a lot. But I will not tolerate the name calling! That’s what's wrong with the guy! I want to see things from others points of views, I want to experience what other people are thinking, but once you start calling a person stupid, or ignorant, that's when the intelligent conversations end!! I’m just hoping that SE will learn from what I’ve been trying to teach. I want him to read my rants and learn that the best way to change a person’s point of view is to make them think you agree with them, then to get them to look at it your way!! (You don't make friends by punching a person in the nose!) "You can't change the world But you can change the facts And when you change the facts You change points of view If you change points of view You may change a vote And when you change a vote You may change the world" Taken from a song by Depeche Mode, New Dress.
