I desmog ,pilot screws to 2 1/4, new air filter. interstate springs. interstate ICM. results my mpg went from 35 to 28 I have a 99 tour What would cause my mpg to drop ? bike runs good idle's good

i think it was the interstate springs that did it you havent washed and waxed it have you? lol

the interstate icm has  differant timing than your tourer and what do you have for carbs?cause 99 was the year of trans  of the smaller carbs so they may be set wrong.
just for giggles put your old icm back in and try it,see if you mpg goes back up

I say your bike probably runs better... so you're twisting the throttle more.

I KNOW that's the trouble with my standard.  I actually got 30 MPG on this last tank, but I OFTEN only get 27.  But, when I have the Ol'Lady with me... I get 33-35.  Hrm?   Evil cooldude

Seriously...  these guys know A LOT more than me.  But don't totally dismiss my theory either.

Opening up the pilot screw adjust probaly contributed, but such a big difference seams like more than that.

Run a few more tanks of fuel to get a better baseline.
