I just recieved my q2 multiset. The idea was to have communication without cords between me and my wife. I haven't tried it with the intercom yet but I just put it on solo and the Fm at full volume isn't all that loud. I haven't ridden with it on my valk as I still have to put the blower back on this weekend.  but does the volume go up with road noise even if it is set to max. if not what have others done so you can actually hear something other than road noise? I know others on this site have had good luck with this unit.

I too thought the volume was low. What I did was place a piece of dense foam about an inch thick in the helmet filling the ear hole, then I attached a piece of velcro to that .
That brought  the speaker out closer to my ear, and it works well now.

I thought you have already put the blower on and was running.

The volume does increse with speed (actually background noise).  We found the VOX circuit for my wife (passenger) suffers from wind noise above 65 MPH.  For her headset I turn off the VOX.  So when she wants to open the comm line she presses a button on the Q2.  My VOX is fine, with the exception of very windy days.  On a side note the microphone is directional.  So if the voice is weak the microphone may be 180 out.

The FM radio on our units is useless.  I link it to a MP3/FM radio via a BluBridge transmitter.

We turn the sets on after I start the bike up and used strips of Velcro to move the speakers closer to our ears.

I intend to plug in my sirius radio which of course gives you the same station no matter where you are. Mainly me and my wife do like to communicate while riding. we tried it out in the house and probably will be on the road sunday to test the Valk.

I have an old Team-Set (pushing 3rd season now) and I was very frustrated by the lack of volume. My solution? Went to Radio Shack and bought a 3' headphone extension cable, cut the female end off (with about 14" of the cable) and then soldered the ends onto the wire attachment points on the speakers. Tuck everything back into the helmet, plug a set of earbuds in and you're golden. I have a set of these: http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.aspx (no affiliation) . The sound quality is outstanding and they go a great job of canceling wind noise; much like wearing those foam ear plugs, and yes, you can still hear your exhaust, other traffic, emergency vehicles, etc (unless your blasting the tunes...)  uglystupid2

Concerning volume, I have a Q2  for several years and I have to tell you mine nearly blows my ear drums out. I have to put it on nearly the lowest setting.  Through my head set I get my cell phone, MP3, GPS directions, commands and XM Radio. I am wireless and I have no issues with any of them with volume. An other thing you may concider is going wireless using a Bluetooth dongle.

http://www.boostaroo.com/

Small amplifier for weak output audio sources.  I don't think it will allow you to adjust the volume.  For that I would add an inline control.  Should be less than $35 for the two.

I would look in the Sirrus menus to see if you can change the output from fixed to variable.
