A bit early to be counting chickens but; Just had a promising interview in the San Antonio area.
Central SA, Fort Sam area.
Can anybody recommend a bike friendly apartment complex/neighborhood?
I would rather not have to take the I35 traffic jam into work though.
Somewhere where I would not be paranoid about either my truck or bike parked overnight.
Renting a house might be do-able, not looking to purchase, contract is not that long.

-IF- it happens it would be mid Aug-Sept time frame.
It is one of those contingent backfill positions thingies.

Thanks in advance

Not in San Antonio so I can;t recommend anything. Just wanted to say that anyone bringing more pipes to Texas is certainly welcome.

But still way too early to be counting pipers just yet.
San Antonio is not the only iron in the fire.

You'll probably get some replies here, but you might also post on the General board. I know we have a couple of folks down in the SA area but don't know if they follow the TX posts. I have another contact there, but he's only been there 4 months himself.  If that looks like the best you can find, shoot me a PM and I'll get you his number.

Thanks, as soon as I hear something might contact you later about the house but it might be a few weeks. Got a friend in town checking things out also. Local book stores don't carry SA newspapers and the one "newstand" here in town I checked did not carry something so plain as newspapers: woof. I will check out the SA Express online.
What I really need is advice on what areas to really avoid. I only have a basic knowledge of SA and surrounding area.

thanks again.

From what I remember any thing on the north side is OK and you want to avoid anything on the south side.  north, north east and north west is nice.

Grin  Hey Piper , email me at rrperez7517@satx.rr.com and let me know exactly what your looking for ...... I myself would not live in an apartment because of the security issues  ....... are you in the Military now or civil service ? and where will you be working , what area ? like I told ya earlier , unless your thinking about living here permanent I would settle for a rental house .... I live in Live Oak off of I-35 and topperwein rd. ..... this area has alot of retired military where I live at and their good people ...... if your in the Air Force , there are some nice areas for those folks like Universal City , Shertz , Cibolo and Marion just to name a few ...... if your at Ft Sam then that area is an older neighborhood but some nice houses , and Piper it all depends on how much you want to spend , how big is your pocket book ..... if your splittling with some other guys , then a real nice house split three or four ways would'nt be so expensive ..... I'd stick with NE , Northcentral basically Northside of SA . there are a lot of houses in and around me right now if your going to be Randolph AFB .... Let me know   Cheesy
