I have a question about Valkyries vacuum lines. Can they be eliminated with an after market manifold and single carb system? Is there a kit for this ? Who makes it? 
My friend bought my 2000 Valkyrie and begin having trouble with it starting and idling. So I have gone online to see if anyone on this site can help with this.

You can eliminate the lines by "desmogging." Do a search and you'll find what you're looking for.

Like the man said, desmog is the easiest route.. Just follow Normands [Quexpress] article in the archives or shop talk.. Or, just replace the vacuum lines and it should be good to go[ if that is the problem].. The single carburetor manifold was tried a number of years ago and didn't go over very well..

You're talking about the Goldwing set-up.

A definite downgrade to the Valkyrie.

Eventually those hose barbs are needed to synchronize the carburetors.

Short bits of hose with plugs will successfully cap off the barbs.

Doing a "de-smog" will eliminate many potential vacuum leaks but will not do anything for the carbs if they have other problems. Switching to another carb set up unless you are adding a supercharger kit is not a practical option for the Valk. The six carb set up on the Valkyrie is very reliable & well engineered, it's really not that complex. You will be MUCH better off fixing what ails the stock carbs than trying to toss them aside & going some other route. If the Valk 6 carb set up was unreliable I'm sure by now someone would have come up with a practical alternative fuel system... I haven't yet seen one! Wink Besides, the 6 carb set up is one of the main features that makes a Valkyrie a Valkyrie!  cooldude
Was this bike sitting up for a while or showing any other symptoms? More info will help.
One to two years of sitting made this mess of this Valk carb bank.
