I am wondering if it is legal to have two sets of spot lights on a bike.  I have a set of cobra and custom world lights and I"m thinking of installing both.  any comments would be appreicated.  I am aware of the electrical hook up procedures so I am not in need of those type of comments.  Thanks

I have Cobras and Kuryakin mini spots. That makes 5 white headlights. Some states won't allow more than 4. Her in AZ, I'm good but not back East.

You can ask her and get 40 dozen different answers all of which might be wrong.

Now if ya go to the state's DOT and ask the same question, you will get 50 correct answers............

Anytime you are in doubt, check th source......

More than 4 is illegal in Texas. I've been running 5-7 front lights since 1981 and never been stopped, questioned, or ticketed for it, and I frequently ride it to work at the DPS headquarters in Austin. Lips Sealed

the sealed beams that come with the Cobra light bar are worthless for helping you see the road.  Change to these babies (still made by Cobra) they use H-3 bulbs and they light up the road as much or more than the headlight does

As above noted, the rules vary by State.  Many allow no more than 4 forward lights (which includes the two headlights in the IS fairing), and others limit how many extra lights you may have above what the vehicle came with.  However, as Eric noted, many have more than the State law allows on a motorcycle and have never been cited or even questioned.

Perhaps the bigger question is not whether you can/will be ticketed for excess forward lights but whether you have an annual safety inspection and will be failed for excess lights.

Mine are aimed "wrong", but they only come on when I hit hi-beam, so unless I'm slack I shouldn't
get punched  Wink

Here in Spain it is illegal to have more than 2 forward facing white lights on the front of a motorcycle, so you are only legally allowed one spot light  uglystupid2 BUT what everyone does is have a set or two fitted and just remove them every time you go for the bi-annual inspection and put them back straight afterwards  cooldude The traffic police couldn't care less how many you have  cooldude cooldude

While attending the ROT Rally a few weeks ago I saw a Harley with one headlight and two spots in the usual arrangement.

They were the brightest lights I have ever seen.

I mean the road and area out in front of the bike was like daylight with a bright sun.

I could not imagine anything making that much light, even the newer ballast type lights. I mean the bike was at least twice to three times as bright as the other bikes that were riding on "broadway" that night.

ditto.  here in wisconsin you are alowed two sets of lights, equaling a total of four.  thankfully with the internet it's quite easy to search your state DOT laws!!
