So I wrecked my bike July 29/08 and severed 2 ligaments in my left knee.  Finally seen a surgeon on the 14th and got offered a job about the tenth.  Turned down the job because I didn't want to lose my disability in case of surgery.  Got offered a payout on the disability for the time remaining (16 mos).  This will tide me over when I get an eventual knee replacement.  Am now headed for the Arctic next Thursday and will be living by the Beaufort Sea just north of the 70th parallel.  Got my bike recertified yesterday and will be putting her in storage I guess along with a bunch of other stuff.  Will be poor biking but great snowmobiling 10 months of the year and good quadding for the other two.  Great char and lake trout fishing and good muskox and caribou hunting - should be an excellent adventure.

You going there to work or recreation? Either way sounds great.

Snowmobiling?? I LOVE it!! I like anything that rocks! Water skiing, snowmobiling, heck, I even water skied in the desert, in the irrigation ditches, towed behind a car! Now THAT was hairy!!

try skiing behind a snowmobile!!  that's fun!!  get yourself some down hill skis, tie a tow rope to a sled, and away you go!!

Can I come up for a visit?

You'll have a place to hang in Indianapolis any time you want to stop in.

Work there for the Hamlet as a mechanic/works foreman.

Trouble is that the Doctors are all private contractors and decide who their patients will be.  My GP submitted my file to at least 9 specialists before finding one that would accept me.  I believe that it is a combination of the nature of the injuries and my age that made it so difficultt o find a surgeon and he has not said that he can do anything for me.  costs to me hav ebeen minimal for ambulance and most care to date but I have an excellent health plan through my current employer.  I also live in a Northern community and so am a ways from specialists.

In the province that I currently live in there is no cost for basic medical coverage - dirty oil money does it.  Extended benefits that cover pharmaceuticals, dental etc. are either available through Blue Cross etc. or in some cases are supplied to workers by employers at a cost the same as any insurance.
