I'm plotting my course back from Inzane...should I hit Louisville,KY at rush hour (with my wife on the back) I would prefer to avoid the congestion if possible.  Due to limited crossing points across the river, it appears that the only route which shouldn't have congested rush hour traffic is US-421 going through Madison,IN.  Anyone local have any suggestions?

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Not sure what day your coming back but its not that bad. It moves fast. Usually going towards ind is busier then going to KY. Its your typical 6 lane traffic. Roads are good to. It takes longer to get around Indy then it does thru L-ville. I say go for it. You could cross over in Owensboro KY, not sure if its out of the way or not. If you do go around Indy, careful with the speed limits. Its posted 55 but all do 70 mph. If you ride faster watch for State cops. Alot hang out on the bridges to spot you.

Same experience as fudgie. Usually some slow downs as you enter the downtown area after crossing the bridge but unless there has been an accident traffic moves on at a good clip.

I avoid Louisville anytime I possibly can.  The biggest problem with Louisville is crossing the bridge southbound.  All of the idiots in the right 2 lanes are funneling down to the right lane for the ramp to I-64 and I-71.  If you are going straight through on I-65, ride slowly, alertly, and stay in left lane.  If you are needing to go east on I-64, I would suggest looking at an alternative route during rush hour. I have crossed at Madison several times and it is a nice ride. You can get off at exit 50, go over to highway 7 and down or take exit 29 and use highway 56 to go to Madison. Since you are going home, your best bet is to go straight through on 65.  You could always stop here at Seymour for a meal with me and wait for rush hour to lighten up a bit. Wink
