For some reason my seat lever(lock) will not unlock. I have an Ultimate seat, but that has not been an issue up to this point and not too sure if it is even an issue. Can anyone give me some advice as to how to unlock my seat. The cable to the lock is loose and I have to use a pair of pliers to pull the inner wire(cord) but this is the first time it has failed to unlock my seat! HELP!

Try pushing down on the front of the seat while turning the key. I had the same problem the first few times with my ultimate seat

Try pushing down on the nose of the seat while ya try to unlock it.
That no work, then proceed doing the following steps.
Remove the left side cover and you can get to the cable with a pair of long handled needle nose pliers.
Take the seat off, tighten the cable and to be safe, put a wire tie on the catch for the next time. Then all you will have to do is remove the side cover and pull the tie.

You may have to have someone pull up on the seat as you yank hard on the cable/ferrule.
This is an indication that you will need to replace that cable. It can be a simple, yet daunting job. After you get your seat off, remove your battery. and remove the two 10mm head screws that hold the latch mechanism. You must disassemble the mechanism to remove the other cable end (take digital photos as you do the dissaaembly), carefully note how the cable is routed.
When you get your new cable, note how much difference in cable drag there is within the cables/ sheaths.
To assemble, remember that the cable must be attached to one end of the latch mechanism, then attach the other end of that mechanism before installing it to the frame. Prperly route the cable, and the rest will be a piece of cake (voice of experience).
Small amounts of cable drag can cause huge changes at the latch mechanism. I had spent several years in the automotive industry testing cable systems, so I sympithize with your current plight..

Also check and see if the cable has come loose from the holder that is shaped like a fork It is located right underthe rear mount for your gas tank. If you slide your hand in there ypu will feel and maybe see what I mean Shortleg[Dave]

An ample lubrication session will help correct and eliminate any occurrence in the future of the problem.
I don't think they were ever lubricated by Honda!

Same problem with my Ultimate seat. After finally getting it off, I cleaned up the hole in the metal locking tab on the seat with a small jewelers file. No more problems in spite of nearly trashing the cable with the needle nose pliers!
