I'm heading over to visit friend in Sedona for a few days (from Palm Springs area, hot as heck here now) on my Tourer.  Want to go through Prescott and stay overnight there.  Any suggestions on a decent place to stay that is not $$$$.

Found quite a few good places to stay with google as well as what seem to be some good bar/restaurants.  Will stay downtown and head over to Sedona next day.  If anyone has favorite bar/restaurant please let me know.

When are you making this trip?  The Prescott Rodeo is going on this week through July 4th and there are few if any rooms available.  This is supposedly the oldest Rodeo in the Country and Prescott will be very crowded.  Any other time of the year there are some reasonable Motels along Gurley street for between $45 and $65.  Stay away from the Historic hotels like the St. Michaels or the Hassayampa Hotel as their rates are much higher.  The St. Michaels is a good place for breakfast.

I'm assuming you are going to come across I-10 to Route 60 to Route 71 to Route 89 or directly from Route 60 to 89?  Then 89 from Prescott to Jerome to Sedona.  If you plan on leaving Palm Springs around 5-6a.m. you should be able to make Sedona with just a fuel stop in Prescott.  Again depending on what you are thinking of doing.  If you come up on 89 you enter Prescott on the West side of the town proper.  I would suggest taking a right at Gurley Street and head East through town about a half mile.  Just past the Courthouse, you can’t miss it, you will start seeing reasonably priced biker friendly Motels.  If you run 89, I hope you like the twisties!

In Sedona try and take a meal at the Sedona airport.  There is an overlook just before you get to the airport and you can stop and pick up a flyer for a 10% discount on your meals.

Good Bars??  Take your pick along Whiskey Row.  Whiskey Row is along Montezuma St. opposite the County Court House.  There's seven or eight bars along that strip plus a Harley clothing store. The big bar there is called the Palace.  Again, due to the Rodeo, it might be crowded this weekend.

Thanks Denny,  Going for 3-4 days on weekend after rodeo.  Could just go straight to Sedona, but thought it might be fun on the twisties and might as well have a few brews in Prescott and hang out there overnight to see what I think.

Wouldn't want you to get hooked up with that Rodeo crowd.  Never know what them cow girlies might rope you into doing. Smiley Smiley cooldude Cheesy

Coming across from Palm Springs, that trip through the desert has to be made early otherwise the heat will be extreme.  Blyth is around 110-112 at noon these days and depending on how you go, there is little relief till you hit Prescott.   I drove to LA for a funeral last July 6th and the outside temp sensor in my car was reading 119 at 2:00p.m.  For once I was glad not to be on the bike.
