Hey all, I`m new to the message board....but not new to the site....love the site you guyz put together and read the posts often! My wife and I are currently on a North American tour across Canada and the US. We`ve already been from Toronto, ON down to Key West, FL and back. Have headed out to the East Coast of Canada to Gaspe, QC and the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, NS...and are now making our way back through Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and upstate New York. Now we`re kinda puttzin along at an average of 220 miles (350kms) per day...but are wondering what the rest of you would put on your bike either solo or with your significant other, if you were on a two week ride in total or average per day... Thanks, Mark PS If you want to follow our blog...check our our pics....or see some vids of our trip (only one on line so far)...you can check us out at http://www.ultimatemotorcycletours.com

We just finished up a 12 day ride. 4,200 miles, averaging 350/day. Longest day was 550, shortest was 150. I would have preferred to do less than 300/day, but my compadres thought differently.

12 travel days out of 14 days on the road === 7200 miles
East Tennessee to Tijuana to Vancouver to East Tennessee
On a 1 week-er = 5400 miles
East Tennessee to Denver to Salt Lake to Monteray to Bakersfield to East Tennessee.

Hope your having a great time Some of our best times have been when out on the road on the Valk. Over the last few years we take a 3000-5000 mile trip over 2 weeks in summer. We found the best way for us is every other day being a travel day. We will do about 400 miles (though some days we have done 600+) to our next chosen destination and then stay there for a full day. If it is some place really great or has multiple sights, we might stay 2 days. Then on the road for another full day on the motorcycle. Gonna sit down and read the blog tonight... looking forward to it

It is either what it takes to get me where I wanna be or as much as the butt/butts can stand. Could be less than 100 or more than 750.

Heh, you guys are inspiring! I've got a week and a half trip coming up in August where I'm planning on doing about 3300 miles all told. This will be my first big trip on the Valk, so I'm super excited. My last bike was a Korean 250cc cruiser. The longest trip I did on that bike was a 1300 mile ride down through Virginia to the Blue Ridge mountains. I am looking forward to a more comfortable ride on the Valkyrie for this next trip.

A couple years ago, pre Valkyrie, I rode a Harley 1100 miles in three days. Northern Utah to Laughlin NV., up to Baker Ca., up through Death Valley, to Scotty's Junction, back to Las Vegas, to St. George UT, and back home. My hands and arm vibrated for three days afterwards, could not sleep well, though she liked it Two years ago I bought my Valk in Detroit, flew there and rode it home, 1650 miles in three days and still went for a short 200 mile ride the day after I got home . My son and I are planning to leave July 11th for two weeks, from Northern Utah to Yellowstone Park, accross Northern Wyo., thru the Black Hills, up thru WI, the Upper Penninsula of MI, to the Northern part of MI( guess there's some gathering of some sort there), down to Knoxville and NC. area and the riding that's to be had around those parts. Does anybody know of any roads around there? Smokin Joe/Big Al do ya care to chime in? From there we'll go across to Albuquerque, Blairs home, and then back to Ogden. 4820 mile according to mapquest, not counting the rides around MI. and the Smokey Mountains. Look forward to seeing and meeting you guys and gals in Bellaire. Be safe in getting there.

Solo daily distance 500 - 800 miles.
A day's ride with my riding partner is 400 - 600 miles. She can be pushed to 800.
Longest ride without a rest, 1900 miles.
I've never ridden until my butt couldn't take any more.

That`s where the infamous Tail of the Dragon is...where there are 318 corners in 11 miles...beautiful scenery along the way...but when you get to the Dragon...keep all eyes on the road! Check out this link.... http://www.gingerich.net/motorcycles/images/dragon%20map.jpg. My wife and I took that route on the way down to Key West...it was closed off at the top and had to take a 2.5 hour detour to get there....wasn`t a problem as the scenery and roads are just spectacular down there....just the time. We also stayed with someone from Hiawasee, GA...she is part of the Motorcycle Travel Network..... http://www.motorcycle-travel.net/ It's $30 for a year and it works as a type of B&B. They offer up their bed and breakfast for $15 single or $20 double...and you offer to host if someone is coming by your way. We stayed with the couple in Hiawasee...and they have a fabulous place in the mountains overlooking the lake. Have a great trip....you'll love it I'm sure! Mark

Depends how bad you want it. SD is our biggest/longest trip of the year. Usually around 2500-2800 miles in 10 days. We usually will ride when we get up till dark. 10-12 hours I guess. Longest stretch of that trip is 600 miles or so. The bad thing is riding 1100 miles home after a week of partying. Wears you out. My longest solo was 900 miles and I wanted it bad. She doesn't bitch when she's on the bike. Esp if I stop so she can smoke.

My total was 5164 miles on a trip that passed through Stergis and on to Idaho and then a bit south to the parks. I was lucky that year because it was not over 90. on the whole trip. Shortleg[Dave]
