. ...it was a Saturday morn...few weeks ago..
...Chili and I were running around in a hurried pace....plans had been made....meetings held....routes planned...agreements made.......Months Ago..
....Americade was a mere few days away...and Chili and I had definite plans to attend again this year....only this time, plans had changed....instead of going alone....we would share the wind with two other couples....close friends that we hung out with often....and instead of just doing Americade and up state New York...this time around we would be heading ....further North... in search of new wind....Northern wind....and all the most excellent back roads that were part of it...
.....shirts...pants...enough socks ??...mebbe a couple more pair...there...that should do it..
....Honeyyyy ?!?!?. ...you ready yet ?
....Im gonna go get the trailer from out back and start loading it....
....Damn ! ...thing hasnt been washed since our last road trip....The Texas/New Orleans Adventure !!
....sh*t....okay....I,ll get the bucket and car wash...and give her ..."The Once over".....
.....Chiliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii !!!!!
. ....my baby comes out in a hurry...looking all flustered, she is audibly talking to herself...
....Okay baby...my bag...your bag....tools...Valk Service Manual.....bike towels....bike cover....we,ll get Ice for the cooler when we gas up on our way outta town !
....we do one last ..mental check....every thing *seems* to be here.....damn...I know I MUST be forgetting something !
.....yeeeeaaahhh....this seems to play out the same every damn time....clothes packed... the day of...trailer washed and hooked up...the day of.....last minute Idea,s and thoughts, carried out....yeh....you know.........the day of
....I throw a leg over my gleaming steed...shes washed and shined up real good for the trip...but just like the weather....that could change at any given time...
...Chiliiiii....get some more bike towels !!
...I start her up and work the choke for a few seconds, before turning it off....she rumbles a little rough for a minute or so...but I know her like the back of my hand...she,s just anxious....she can feel the excitement mixed with adrenaline...charged up with big ol dose of.. "anticipation" ...just like Chili and me ...she,s been here before...and I know that all shes feeling at this moment is.....Road Trip !
...Chili does one last audible mental check...then throws a leg and climbs on back...we ease down the drive way and out into town....pulling up at the gas pumps...Chili runs in to grab a bag of Ice, while I carefully top the tank off....getting every last drop into that six gallon tank that I can squeeze....
....closing the cap....I start her back up....the custom pipes my buddy Johnny back in jersey built me rumble to life...I ease her out onto the I 75 Business loop and head for the Interstate....cruising onto the onramp I slowly wind her up...slowly going through the gears until I hit 80 mph an hour....
....its a sunny afternoon...about 80 degrees out...a perfect day to get in the wind...as I passed the bank on the way out of town, I took note of the time....June 5th 2010...77,287 miles on the clock....at 1:00 PM in the afternoon...
...yep...another really late start...this was yet another Classic beginning to a......Timbr n Chili Road Trip...
. ...destination....Americade and Beyond
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.....like I said...the weather was excellent...sunny....warm....as we cruised down the Interstate towards the Canadian Border, we slowly relaxed and let the next phase of this bodacious adventure take hold....you know what Im talking bout...those first 20 minutes or so when you,re buzzing down the highway, feeling all that excitement that only being on the road for an extended period of time can give you....
...we rode most of the afternoon before crossing the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, which is down state from us...the border crossing into Canada went off without a hitch, like usual...but after hitting the highway there and sizing up the...law presence..I immediately took her up to 85 and we made some great time...a few gas stops and a quick...not so great lunch...and we were at the American Border...we pulled up and this time instead of getting some paranoid middle aged dolt with a really bad toupe...we got some young kid...he asked if we stopped while in Canada...and where were we headed ?...we told him and produced our spiffy new..Driver License/Passports..and I kept my fingers crossed that mine would scan this time without any problems...but my slight angst was for naught....he eyeballed our license,s momentarily...slowly walked to the rear of the bike and eye balled the license plate....came back and handed our licenses back and replied...have a good time....and we were through..
....we navigated the maze through the American side of Niagra Falls and finally hit the highway again...we rode for a while, until we were about 30 miles out of Niagra Falls ...so the hotel rates wouldnt kill us...and we got a room for the night...we got up early the next morning...well...early for us ...got a quick shower and gulped down some "continental breakfast"...and hit the road...and before yanno it...we were headed up into the Mountains of Up State New York.... and Americade...
time...this time..unlike last year...we were determined to arrive.."early"
. ...The puter at the hotel we stayed at was down, due to some kid sliding it a nice virus while no one was looking..but the lady at the front desk was real helpful....she pulled up Map Quest for us on her Hotel computer, and plotted a course right for Lake George...we followed it all day and it was spot on....even on the lonely back roads...
. ...as the afternoon progressed, the sun slowly disappeared and a heavy fog/mist began to set in around the mountains....like I said in the beginning...the Map Quest directions were right on...all the way to the....last turn..
....for some reason it said...turn left....when it should have said....turn right...we wouldnt figure out this last tiny mistake ...until 30 miles later...
...we rode and rode up into the mountains and the further we rode....the heavier the mist became until we were riding in and out of lite rain...we should have known something was up as the traffic was extremely lite, and the bikes we did see were heading in the opposite direction...but we just waved...
...finally...I said to Chili...this cant be right ! ...Im gonna find someone and ask for directions to Lake George.....but that was easier said then done...you see we were definitely up in the mountains..on a lonely road...in a lite rain and heavy fog..and there was no one to be found...so on we rode...
...finally..I spotted this little ol lady riding a bicycle in a park or something..so I quickly pulled in and yelled out....Heyyyyy...how do we get to Lake George ?!?!?
...she rode right over to us and laughed....well...first turn around ...then ride back from where ya came from for about....ohhhhhhh 30 miles....you,ll ride right into town !
...we laughed too...it was kinda funny...and besides...our little adventure in the wrong direction had definitely been enjoyable...lite rain and fog and all....so we turned the State around and headed back from wence we came...along the way we came across this scenic stop and got a little photo op out of it...little did we know our knowledge of this resting place would come in handy later in the week...
....well...it was late afternoon ...again...but we finally rode into town...it was definitely early in the week...and things had not nearly gotten started for the Rally...we found our hotel and checked in...we were delighted at our digs...rooms on both sides, with a nice lil safe parking lot area in the middle for the bikes...right on Lake George...there was a nice lil Italian restaurant right across the street...so we strolled over and had a nice dinner....afterwards we hung out at our room and had a couple Capn n Cokes...and waited....our friends from Canada were not to arrive until the next day...and our in the wind friends for the Adventure that was to take place after Americade... would not arrive until Wednesday....
...next morning we rose and showered up...jumped on the bike and headed down town in search of a good place to get breakfast....we found a cool lil spot that reminded me of the big ol silver diners they still have back in jersey...
....after breakfast we returned to the hotel and commenced to cleaning the bike...she had gone through a a good amount of heavy fog and mist and a nice lite rain....and she needed some attention....after that we just kicked back...and worked on our tans as we waited...but we wouldnt have to wait long...because, before we knew it two big ol Wings cruised in and pulled up....our good friends Ron and Mary had arrived...and we were glad to see them !!
.....well...we hung out for a bit, and caught up on each others lives...then we all mounted up and headed out of town for a new Rally that was being held one town over....I think it was called.. The Warrensburg Rally...it was free and considerably smaller then Americade but still a good time...I got a nice lil handlebar bracket I been wanting for my radar detector...the next day we all had breakfast...then Ron and Mary headed for the Americade Vendors early, as they wanted to get some work done at the Kuryakyn Tent.....Chili and I would go explore also...but later.....when we did arrive at the Vendors the field was already becomming filled....okay...lets go buy some goodies !!!
....it was a great day....we never did see Ron and Mary at the Vendors...but man did we buy a BUNCH O STUFF !!
.....and yanno what ?....all that walking and buying of goodies shurrr makes a Wolf hungary...so we had a great lunch at the food stands...one thing I really dig about Americade is that they put up a great food variety...had me a big ol pulled pork sammich....fresh home made fries with slaw and a big ol 4 Dolla Lemonaide !
.....One thing I wanna make clear here....l had been wanting a nice pair of custom mirrors for a few years now...and last year I decided on a pair of 180 dollar mirrors from Kuryakyn....Chili gottem for my BD right before we left for Americade....well...we had to stop and adjust em like 5 times before we ever got to the Rally....and once there I told the story of our problem with a guy name of "Fish" at the Kury tent...he told me...no problem....ship em to us our cost...and we,ll send ya a new pair with the "new inproved pivot balls"...Great !.....thanks I said....only problem was...on the way back to Michigan..we got about 400 miles away from home at the Ohio border...just inside Michigan and we were moving right along with traffic doing about 75 mph...all of a sudden I felt something "glance my right knee" ...looked over and my right hand mirror.....was gone....seems the Chinese alloy adapters they had sold me to convert the bolt on part to my handle bars to metric...had broken right in half...and my right mirror was now...gone...I was both amazed and dismayed all at the same time....I always had good luck with Kury products in the past and was more then satisfied with the quality of their stuff...but hell...these mirrors were 180 bucks...and I had em a week !
...I Immediatly called Kury when I got home ...talked to some lady who was in customer service...told her my story and she laughed and said...just "fell off" ..huh ?...never heard that one before ! ....well...just send in a copy of yer reciept and a pic of the broken adapter if ya can...and we,ll see what we can do...
...didnt leave me with a good feeling....but I told her I would...but as things usually work out...at lest for me...I couldnt find the recirpet for a couple of months...when I finally did...I thought...yanno what...Im just gonna wait until Americade...take the reciept and broken adapter with me...and hopefully I can find that "Fish guy" again....well....remember in the beginning of this story how me and Chili were running round like headless chickens ...trying to get everything together that morning to leave on the trip...and I was like...damn..I know Im forgetting SOMETHING !!!....yep...you got it...left the adapter AND reciept...back at the house....
....but I was determined...so I went to the Kury tent and it was jammin...people buyin stuff left and right...and the sales reps were scurrying round like rats in a maze on fire....one finally walked up to me and asked if he could help me..I just said...Fish around ??. ...yep..he replied...he,s right over there...and pointed to em...well...he was with a customer..so I was patient and polite...until finally he turned and asked...can I help you ?. ..so I told him my little story...about adjusting em all them times...and how they broke on the way home just riding down the highway...and how the lady laughed and made me feel like I was somehow not telling her the truth...he studied me the entire time I was telling my story before stopping me in mid sentence....you bought the Scythe Mirrors...right ?...yeh...okay...be right back...he then quickly turned and disappeared around the corner, before quickly reappearing....you still got the adapters ?...no...they broke ! ...okay...wait here..so I stood there for about 5 minutes chatting it up with some Harley boy....when all of a suddent Fish appears and hands me a big ol Kury bag....here he says....this is a new pair...free of charge...Im sorry that you had a bad experience...and I appologize for the treatment you recieved when you called our customer service.....ride safe man !! I just stood there....stunned...I couldnt believe he just gave me a new pair of 180 dollar mirrors with no proof of purchse !!
...Fish.....you ROCKKKKKK Brotherrrrrrrr !!!!!!
...sooooo...after a long day of buyin all kinda cool stuff...Chili and I headed back to our hotel room ...loaded down with loot..
....we hooked up with Ron and Mary, who told us that they were headed out to dinner with some Canadian friends of theirs to some fancy steak place...and did we wanna come along ?
....hmmmmm....fancy steak place eh....Hell Yeahhhhh !!!
...so we all mounted up and rode our bikes across town to a place called..George,s....and lemme tell ya...this place rocked...not cheap by any means...but if you wanna kick ass steak while at Americade...I highly recommend George,s.....food was excellent and cuts of meat..HUGE..
....this is the view from behind our Motel....they have two hot tubs...heated pool...tiny lil beach out back ..with 3 BBQ grilles for guest use.....right on Lake George...all for 100 bucks a night...(65 regularly)...not too bad ...
....that night we hung out with...The Candian Contingent...and partied the night away.....but we had been there 3 daze now...and we were expecting..company..the next morning we rose and got some coffee....and before long that familiar *rumble*...that only a Valk...(and 1300 VTX) can create...slowly got louder and louder..and then they appeared....
....Tony n Lara and Dave and his wife Fran...alright...let the party begin...Again !!
. ...they cruised right in and backed their sleek machines up in front of our room....Chili and I were definitely excited....we had been having a blast with Ron and Mary and their friends for the last couple of daze...but we were also getting restless...as we knew what lay ahead...and we were ready were ready to get back in the wind !
. ....so we loaded are stuff back up...did one last walk around the room....said our goodbyes to Ron and Mary...agreeing to meet up again in the wind sometime..soon !
....and we were off...Chili and I led the way as we had a good Idea of where we were going...and once again we were in the wind....our friends following close behind us..
...well....remember that...scenic rest stop Chili and I had stumbled across when we got lost comming into town ?
...Tony and Dave said that we needed to find some place to stop and have a lil..impromptu lunch..we said not to worry...we knew just the place....
...and so we all headed back up those winding mountain roads...only this time the sun was shining..and the fog was gone...when we finally arrived at the stop there was some sort of Americade Fund Raiser thing going on, and they had a hot dog stand set up and a bunch of bikes were already there...so we pulled our bikes in...found a space and parked em...I whipped out some bodacious baby backs I had left over from the Steak joint and a bunch of HUGE slices of pizza from the night before that we couldnt finish.....and we all feasted..
. ...after a nice little lunch we all mounted back up...excitement filled the air...everyone there knew...we were all beginning a most excellent adventure in the wind...and this was just the beginning...
.....we headed out...my lil Navigator..Chili...leading the way...until we finally hit this little ferry...it was our way across the river to Vermont...and very cool...
....so along with 4 other bikes that were crossing also...we all slowly rode on to the tiny Ferry and off we went....on to Vermont...and the beginning of our adventure....
. ...once on the other side...Tony took the lead....he had "adjusted" his GPS on the ride over and said he had our..exact coordinance mapped....and off he went....now he and Dave like to ride...Fassssttttt....and we were tearing down all these back roads in rural Vermont....soon he came to a gravel road...and abruptly hit his breaks, and turned onto it....I was a bit puzzled...but followed everyone else as Chili and I took up the rear....and down this dusty..bumpy...gravel road we went....I had a feeling...but on we traveled....a few miles later...off in the dusty distance I saw Tonys tail light suddenly come on....this cant be right he exclaimed ! ....it says go straight..but look... its a dead end !!!
. ....Hey Tony !!!. . ...Tonyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!!!
. ..... Come baaaaaaaaaaacccccccccccckkkkkkkkk !!!!!!!!
....so we all made our way back out to civilization and the paved road...where Lara..Dave..and Fran got out the map and tried to figure out just...where the hell were !
....back on the road we were off again...something we figured out really quick about Vermont...they had ALOT of road construction going on....and that meant we had to ride...miles and miles...on dusty..bumpy..pot hole filled dirt roads....over and over again...and I cant tell ya how much fun that is when yer towing a trailer and have a passenger...
. ...but after a while we finally got past the construction and got back on paved roads...and made some time...
. ....Tony and Lara and Dave and Fran wanted to stay at a motel down the street but Chili and I decided to stay at a Days Inn up the road...we all met up and rode out for dinner...stopping at a cool little place that used to be a Fire Hall..dinner was pretty good...at least my cheeseburger was...Dave went to the bathroom and Tony took the oppurtunity to summon the waitress and tell her that its ...Daves Birthday...and could they bring a lil piece of cake or pie...and sing him Happy Birthday ?
...Dave came back out and we all chatted it up and laughed when all of a sudden the waitress and some others came to the table holding a slice of pie...with a lone glowing candle...they began to sing Happy Birthday to a VERY surpirsed Dave...so we all joined in...as did the entire restaurant....Dave was both surprised and happy...hell...he got FREE Pie...Tony got 5 bucks tacked onto his part of the bill...for the pie..
....next morning Chili and I got up, and hooked up with the rest of the group....over coffee we all talked about what the day would hold...it was overcast...but not raining..yet...they all wanted to stay another day in Barre ...but Chili and I were restless....so we said we were hitting the road...and that we would hook up some where down the way....and so we donned our rain gear and cranked our Gerbings up to high and hit the road...and before long we were riding up into the first set of mountains we would ride through....The White Mountains in New Hampshire...
....it was a dark misty day....cool...lots of fog and mist every where...but that just made it more mysterious for us...thats when we saw this sign...it was the first warning we had seen..and we kept our hopes up...we definitely wanted to see at least one moose...more if possible...
....up into the White Mountains we rode...mist and fog getting thicker as we traveled along...so I took it nice and slow...not wanting to make the 6 0 Clock News...
. ...and do some exploring ...ofcourse..
....but we had miles to go yet...and we wanted to ride the Kancamagus Highway....so on we rode through the fog...
....we finally exited the Mountains...a very scenic ride...but late into the afternoon it slowly began to rain...hard...so we sought refuge for the evening in a nearby hotel...with the fog and low visability and slick wet roads...we only made it 94 miles that day....but very scenic miles they were....
....the next morning we were up and on the road early...it was a nice clear day and we made it all the way into Maine....we stopped for lunch...and I bought a quart of strawberries from this young girl who was selling them by the road...man I hafta to tell ya...they were some of the sweetest...most delicious berries Ive ever tasted...incredible.....we got a call from the others late in the aftrnoon, and agreed to meet in Bangor Maine for the night at a predetermined hotel......
.....next morning we all rose early....I think everyone was anxious to get on the road and get to our destination.....Bar Harbor....we were told that hotels in the area were extremely high...and that we should look for shelter ...well outside of town...and so we did...the first night we found a place about 30 miles outside of Bar Harbor for about 60 bucks...not too bad...so we thought....next morning we were on a mission...to explore Acadia National Park....and to find "cheep lobsta"...as the locals called it....and gorge ourselves on it....both endeavors were a smashing success......the park was 10 bucks a piece for a 7 day pass...and it was truly incredible...we took loads of pictures...and even though alot of them are spectacular....they still dont do the place justice....and the lobsta ?. ....lets just say I still got ..butter stains...on my t shirts..
....first we hit Acadia National Park....Maines scenery is rugged for sure...and its beauty abounds...
.....the babe in the bikini wasnt too shabby either..
.....we stopped every few hundred yards....just snapping away...
....we all became rock climbers that day....albeit very careful ones...they told us at the Information Place...that the number one injury in the park....is from falls...
....it was a beautiful day to explore the park...or just sit on the rocks and enjoy some...what is it Strider calls it ?...oh yeh...Fellowship....
....then back on the bikes we got...in the wind....surrounded by beauty....the girls were taking piczzz of everything....including each other...
. .....on and on we rode...each new bend in the road affording us a new masterpiece to ohhhh and ahhhhh at.....what a day to be with good friends....and so there we were....3 Valks...side by side......just enjoying life...
....and like I said...around every bend something new and glorious appeared....Maine was way more awesome then I ever dreamed it would be..
....along the way we stopped for a little break...snack...and yet another Photo op......
. ....took this shot of my State looken fine..
....we then mounted up and headed up to the top of the Mountain...and the most spectacular view of all...
....the road was awesome...twisting and sweeping curves...but not as sweet as the views it afforded us..
. ....up and up we went...it just seemed to go on forever...
....and as we rose higher and higher...the view out across the park grew more and more spectacular...
.....but we werent done by a long shot....higher and higher we rose..
...then finally...we reached the top...the others had arrived before us and were waiting...the ride was well worth it...far below we could see the tiny town of Bar Harbor....a town we would soon explore..
....course...I had to have a photo op with my baby..
....but ya know what ?
...all that riding...climbing...picture taking....takes it toll on an ol Wolf...and we all had ravenous appettites for...you know....Lobsta !!
...all along the way we had been careful to take in all the information we could...as to who had the...Best...cheapest...most delicious...Lobstaaa...
...and all our info gathering had led us to this place ....and while we were there a funny thing happened...we had ordered our Lobsta and we were patiently waiting for it...when this young couple arrived...the guy was all buff and had that...Military Look...about him....and the girl was a lil knock out...blonde...blue eyed...with that pure ..simple Maine country girl look about her...she sort of had that...Marilyn Monroe thing goin on...
....while eatting our lobstas like a pack of ravenous dogs we asked if they would take a few photos of us....we told them how we were from Michigan and staying in town...but we were looking for a...more reasonable motel...closer to Bar Harbor...we went on to say how we saw this place that advertised rooms for 2 people....air conditioning...cable tv....for only 32 bucks a night...and we were thinking on checking it out...she grins and says...why....thats where I work !!
.....do tell ....is it an okay place ?...clean ?....I mean...32 bucks a night and all....YES she replies...its a great lil place !!.....okayyyyyyy we say....we,ll be there in the morning !
...but I digress....we waltz into this tiny...Lobsta Pound...thats what they call em there..."Pounds"...and they are everywhere......so we walk in and theres this big ol long bin...just brimming with lobstas of all sizes and shapes....average price.....5.50 a pound ! . ...you heard me right...5.50 a friggin pound !!! ....so we proceed to....peruse the inventory....and select our dinners...
.....hmmmm......these were the..."Big Ones"...
. ....okayyyyy....I think I,ll have...that one !. ..and THAT one !!. ...and Oh Yeahhhhhh......THAT ONE !!!!
....here they are weighing Chili,s and mine...dinner
.....hey buddy...need help lifitng that ?!?!?
....well....the wait seemed to go on forever...but finally they called our names...and the feast began..
....Holy Crap !. ....I think shes friggin ...Hyponotized !!!
. ...uhh.....Dave...Dave..
...no no no....yer sposed to eat the.. . .
......ahhhhhhhhh....never mind...how,s that Lobsta Dave...Stringy ? ..
....Chili n me decided to order..."two"...one and a half "lobstas" a piece....that would be ..three pounds a piece....but Chili eats one lobsta...and the claws of her second...then announces thats shes.."full"....and that I HAVE to eat her ...other tail..
....ohhhhh man...the sacrifices I make for that woman !
...these were my...two lil puppies....c mere my lil babies...let daddy smother ya in butter !
....after an incredible friggin dinner...we all decided to ride to Bar Harbor and waddle around for a while...you know...walk off some dinner ?
.....too bad Tony led us all into a ...corner ice cream Parlor
....next day we decided to go for a little ride....explore the area....stopped here along the way for a photo op....very cool place...water was rushing along like a fast moving river in one direction...for high tide....then...when low tide comes ...it changes directions and rushes just as fast...in the opposite direction...
.....Chili getting a little photo op...look at those rapids..and thats from the tide just comming in...
....mounting back up...we decided to go find .."some docks"....talk to some local "lobsta Men"...you know...get the scoop on these delectable butter drippin babies...straight from the horses mouth so to speak..
...so we ride into this tiny lil town...definite sight to be seen...you know....Bikers..from Michigan...Invade tiny lil God Fearing...Lobsta Town !!
....well...we kinda got lost...yeh..I know...some fearsome bikers eh ?
...so we stop on this corner and get the map out...thats when this ol dude comes walking by with his lil pooch...comes right up to us and in a really thick Maine accent goes....lost ehh ??
...uhhh yeah....guess you could say that ol timer...
...well...this ol dude was pretty cool..so we start chattin him up some...he gives us a short synapses of his life growing up there and introduces us to his dog...B.D. ....that stands for...Bad Dog...heck we knew that...
....he,s pretty amusing...but not much help really..so we figger...screw it...we,ll just wing it...so we take off in one direction...quickly turn around...and ride down the street...in the other direction...whole time this ol guy is waving good bye to us.....then we hang a left...and voi la....mother load..
....yep...right down this little street..we spot a genuine lobsta dock...replete with traps and all....so we stop..and start chatting it up with this real Lobsta man.....
....we start tellin him how we heard about how the bottom has dropped out of lobsta prices and he goes...yup...its terrible...and I,ll tell ya what....if we thought the old dog walken guy had a deep Maine accent...man...this dude was the real deal !
....so me and Chili are busy taking all kinda piczzz...and he takes the others in and shows em a ...Five Pound Lobsta !!! ....Dag !!!. ...me n Chili missed it !
....but we ask him if we can walk out on his docs and take some pics...and he,s real nice and goes....shurrrrrrr...go take all ya want...
...so Im out on the end of this doc ...taking all these fine shots of the harbor shrouded in fog...when this eagle comes flying across the water and lands in this pine tree....I mean...how cool is that ?!?!
....and so we rode for a while more...before heading back to our...New..32 dollar a night Motel....and when we get there...we got this new neighbor...he tells me how he,s from Pennsylvania...and how he,s been camping for the last 8 daze...way up in the bushland....and how he saw like 6 friggin moose and couplea foxes !!. ...then he goes on to tell me how he was freezing his azzzzzzzz off up there....how he,d wake up at 4am cuz it was already day light and all the friggin birds were singing like mad....but he didnt wanna get up yet cuz it was friggin freezing out !!....and how the bathrooms were 1/4 mile down the road...and how he was paying...get this....30 friggin bucks a night to camp there !!. ...and how he had, had enough...so he came back into civilization and found this place for 32 bucks a night and it has heat and a shower and the bathrooms only...2 feet away....and the whole time Im sympathizing wiht him...but Im also thinking.....sucks to be you !
....anyway....we been out exploring all day and yanno what that means....thats right...were friggin starved !
....so me and Chili and Tony z and his wife decide to go back to the ...scene of the crime ...and massacre MORE delectable lobstas !!
....on the way there we decide to stop at this...cooler looking lobsta pound...down the road....and check out there prices...and also do a photo op...cuz they got these really cool looking...fire powered ...smokin steamers out front..and I think the bikes will look really cool with them in the back ground..
....now...this is how to cook Lobstassssss babyyyyyyy
....but alas...their prices were higher then the other place we ate....wayyyyy higher...so we went back to the first place...
...this time around Chili and I consider ourselves...Lobsta Eattin Experts...and being such...we decided NOT to fool around this time....so we both said...in an authoritative voice....uhhhhhhh....whats the ..Biggest Dang Lobsta ya Got in this here joint ?!?!?!?
...to which the guy replies...well....that would be these...... THREE POUNDERZZZZZZ !!!!!!
.....SOLLLLLLDDDDDDD !!!!!
....we,ll take two...actually...Chili,s was three pounds...mine a mere two and three quarter poundzzzzzzz ....of big ol steaming nirvana.....I mean the claws on these things were friggin HUGE !!!. ...so big...that Chili eats the two big ol claws off of her lobsta and goes...ughhh...Im full....you,re going to have eat this BIG ol honkn tail off my lobsta !
.....Ohhhhhhhhh the Humanityyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!
.....okay !
.....but yanno what ?...after eattin that HUGE lobsta I had...and "most" of her tail....I had to give in and let Tony z finish the last couplea bites....cuz I just couldnt cram any more friggin lobsta down my throat !!
....Holy Crap...would ya look at the..* posessed look *...in these peoples..beady lil eyes...I mean...Im the only one here that ...looks sane !
...so...while waddling out back to the bikes...I stopped for this photo op...
...I mean...what looks better then a sleek Valkyrie....then a sleek Valkyrie in front of your...favorite Lobsta Pound !
. ...the next day we all decided to go explore...we would start at "Thunder Rock"..at Acadia National Park...we had driven by it the day before because..well..I,ll let Chili explain...that one..
. ...so the story goes...when conditions are "right"...the sea sweeps in and *EXPLODES* all over the stairwell and anyone in the immediate area....well...apparently conditions werent all they could be...cuz all we got out of it was a...lil *fart*
. ...as we were headed back to this bikes...I spotted this guy off in the distance, doing some old time stills....pretty cool..
....wonder it he had a...female assistant under that sheet ?
. ....riding back out of the park was a treat...
. ...soon we found ourselves on some fine Maine back roads....we just cruised around for most of the day...and finally found ourselves here for a little lunch...
. ..lunch was pretty good...but it had started to mist a little outiside while we ate..Tony and Lara said they were heading back to the motel...but the rest of us wanted to still see the nearby lighthouse...so we split up for the rest of the afternoon...
