http://www.wate.com/Global/story.asp?S=12733722KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A multi-million dollar motorcycle convention will roll into Knoxville in July 2011, officials announced Wednesday.
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) will hold its annual Wing Ding 33 Convention in Knoxville from July 6-9, 2011. The theme will be "Rollin' on Rocky Top."
The convention is expected to bring more than 18,000 visitors over its four days.
Officials with the Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corp. estimate that the convention will bring in more than $25 million for the city.
Wing Ding sites will include:
•Chilhowee Park
•The Civic Coliseum
•The Convention Center
GWRRA is the world's largest single-marque social organization for owners and riders of Honda Gold Wing/Valkyrie motorcycles.
At each Wing Ding convention, GWRRA chooses a local charity to donate to, holding raffles and putting up donation boxes through the event.
GWRRA officials expect to choose a Knoxville charity in the coming months.
