Leaking water pump...help
«

My pump has been leaking a drop or 2 after a ride out of the weep hole. The other night there was a 4" puddle under the bike. I have a new pump ordered from HDL but it might not be in until after next week. I am supposed to go on a ride (100 miles) next Saturday. I am trying to understand the risk. Worst case, will the pump totally fail and dump out all the coolant? If so I would guess this could fry the motor. I can monitor it along the way I suppose. I plan a few test rides this weekend to assess the leak. Any thoughts? I do not want to risk any damage for this 1 ride.

Take a jug of water or coolant along and add as needed, (don't remove the rad cap when hot).

mine started leaking when i was 2200 miles from home .. only added a little bit to it the whole way home. it only washes the oil spot from them harleys away . you will be ok to ride it for a while yet .

Put some "bars leak" or other kind of sealing additive in the radiator as a temporary fix.
Not a whole lot! A tablespoon or so.

I would NOT put anything in there. Take a gallon of water along. Probably will not need any.
