O.k., I went to look at the Interstate yesterday that I am considering buying and I decided to go forward with the purchase. I have a handshake agreement with the owner to buy the Interstate probably by the end of this coming week. The bike is going to be a project bike, and needs some TLC. Before I can consider adding any Bling to the bike it needs to be painted. It has a small crack on the trunk (about an inch and a half) and scratches on the tank, trunk, and saddlebags. I am looking for a painter in the DFW area and thought that I would post here first to see if anyone knows a local painter or would want to take on the project of painting the bike themselves. The bike is Honda Fast Black and that's what I would go back with but would consider metallic black, depending on the price. If anyone that can paint a bike in the DFW area wants to paint the bike, please contact me and quote me a price so that I can get this bike back to the land of the living. The owner has 2 Harley's and it looks like he neglected the Honda. One way or the other, I will bring her back to the Fat Lady that I know she can be. Post here or e-mail or PM me. I will take pictures of the Interstate when I close the deal next week and post it here.     coolsmiley

Paul, go ahead and ask him if he would want to paint the bike. I just don't want it to drag on for months. Ask him if he can fix the small crack on the trunk, and let him know that the bike has a fairing, pods, side covers, saddlebags, front and rear fenders and a trunk. I hope by labor day to have the bike painted and to start adding some bling to the Fat Lady. Let me know..... Smiley

That trunk has SEVERAL pieces.  Take a close look at it.  A little work involved in taking apart and putting back together.

Early Bird, looks like I'll be getting a crash course on the ins and outs of an Interstate. I'll be asking a lot of questions of you that own an Interstate in the coming months. I'm going to Super Valk the Interstate as soon as I can.

The trunk is one of the first things you remove in the Super Valk conversion.

Paul, thanks for checking. I found a painter in Fort Worth that will paint the whole bike metallic black for $800.00. Seems like a fair price to me. He told me that if I bring him the tins on a Monday he will have them back to me by that Friday. Now I need some time off from work to start taking the tins off so that I can take them to him. I post a picture when the bike is painted and back together.     cooldude

That's pretty high! Why paint everything if you're going to convert it? That don't make much sense, unless your going to sell the parts u take off. we know a guy that does paint too, I'm sure it would be much less in price. I'll get the # if you want. Redneck painted our valk himself, see pictures on our website or come by. www.dragonbrethe.com

Hollywood, I'm going to SuperValk the Interstate but I will keep the trunk to put back on when I go on a long trip. Thanks for the offer to have the guy you know paint my Interstate but I'll take a pass on it this time.     Smiley
