Looking for a good Leather Seat Protectant / Conditioner for my Corbin Seat. Been advised not to use a petrol or kerosene based product. Parffin base is the safest from what I read. Any recommendations for a Seat Protectant / Conditioner. Been considering Meguiars and Mothers brands.

Do you have a tac shop around your area?
Where you can get items for horses and etc.
They usually carry a very good saddle treatment.
That is where I got mine. Don't remember the exact name of the product, but it was good.

For a leather seat I just use mink oil, seems to last the lifetime of the mink! Smear it on kinda thick and rub it in, let sit for a while then wipe off the excess.

I use Mink Oil on my Winter boots and it works great, but it stinks horribly. . . do they sell deodorized Mink Oil?

Neatsfoot oil...Leather conditioner/softener is available in any tac type shop. (for saddles) and all leather goods. You can find it on-line also, from saddle shops.

This is by far the best stuff I've used. It takes a little work to get it worked in since it's solid until your hands melt it (it's beeswax based), but it's worth the work. Great stuff! http://www.obenaufs.com/lp.php |

Obernauf's sounds like what the Doctor ordered, but I question using Silicone in a Leather product. My Fiebings Mink Oil Liquid also has Silicone in it and I think Silicone comes from Petroleum?
Fiebing's ingrediants....Mink Oil, Silicone, Lanolin and Pure Natural Neatsfoot oil.

I just use leather stuff I use on my truck seats. Makes it a little slick but wears off in time.

I wondered about that too. Their water-proofing spray puports to have the most silicone in it, which also seemed strange. They claim that it still allows the leather to breath, and I've had nothing but good things to say about their product. I think it will shed water better and last longer between applications than the others I've used. |

Another trick to use with the mink oil is to follow up with a hair dryer .... it melts the oil and the leather will soak it up like a sponge. |
