One for the good guys.  Beat the ticket on a technicality but a win is a win.

Cop had pulled me over after almost turning me into road kill then after thinkin about it for a while came up with no goggles line

I was wearing my ansi z87 safety glasses which are approved by DMV inside my flip up helmet

He was still insisting that because there is no foam around the eyes they are simply sunglasses.

A hole

Gives the hard working honest cops a bad name, wish I knew more than one here in NY

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!

here in wisconsin, if your windshield is 15" over your handlebars, you don't have to wear anything!!  other then that, you must at least wear glasses!!

wow, new york sucks!! (just joking, i'd love to visit one day!)

Hoser,
here in wisconsin, if you get pulled over by the state patrol for speeding, it's a min. $200.50 fine, no warnings, no nothing!  (well, maybe a thankyou from the school district  Grin)

That cop was just looking for some city revenue.

Here, you apparently don't have to wear anything, anytime.  The pirates usually have on sunglasses with no other eye or head protection.

If in reference to my recent retirement as a police dispatcher,  no mention was made of my recent occupation,  I am also a Fire department retiree, and enjoyed that employment much more than the latter.  Officer was outside the rest room at a rest area when I came out, and informed me of the speed limit at that time. He may have ran my tag, but asked for no credentials, just  informed me of his information.  Like I said, he was a nice young feller..  Hoser

OSS,
If you look up the rules you just have to have Eye protection.  I do not believe it says anything about saftey rated glass.
Where in NY are you?
I got an obstructed plate ticket , better than the 77 in a 55 he had me for.

The law says goggles or such as approved by Commissioner of Motor Vehicles

The DMV print out says Z87.1 safety glasses, but the rider may be required to show proof of the glassess meeting the standard by an affidavit.  Since I am an officer of the court I can affirm instead of swearing an affidavit by law.

The glasses say right on the lenses Z87.1 which is the worldwide standard

The 2 sets of glasses  (clear for rain and dark for regular) I bought at americade that go over my regular glasses have the padding but at the time I got the ticket I didnt own them yet

Ossining NY    Ride with Bonzo and us on the next winery ride or better yet join Gman and me on the trip to inzane next week  you could be #403

That's the Bull$hit Right There That I Can't Stand!  The cops give out Bull$hit tickets, then you go down the court and the prosecutor pleabargains EVERYBODY.  Nobody says no, they're just happy to go home paying less, even if they didn't do anything because (as the prosecutor emphasizes) you never know how the judge will rule.  It's a game that's rigged.

Good going, Evan!  I remember how pissed off you were when you got that ticket.
