My 2006 Dodge truck is about to 36 months.  The warranty runs out next month on everything except the Cummins diesel.  The dealer will graciously sell me their second best extended warranty for $2050.  I found a couple of places on line when I search for chrysler warrnty that will selll me supposedly that same warranty for $500 less, one even sent me a limited time extra $180 off coupon code, making it $1320.  Anyone bought from these folks?  I know there are a lot of shams out there on warranties.  First time I have kept a vehicle long enough to worry about extended warranty and tires.  Smiley

I don't believe in extended warranties.  I've had two and neither saved me a nickel.  Maybe, that is a good thing since I have not had very many problems with my vehicles.
I do know there are big mark-ups in extended warranties.  There is also a lot of room to negotiate a price.  Show him what you have found online and ask him to meet or beat it.
Question: Have you had many problems with the Dodge?  Do you think it will break down in the next two years?  Does the extended warranty cover the items you think will cause future problems?  How much do you think those problems will cost?
All these will help you decide if it is money well spent.  Good luck.

there are quite a few after market companys that offer warrantys to the public. You don't have to buy a Chrysler policy. Also that would take quite a few repairs to equal what you are going to pay out, it may not be cost effective for you to get the it, Personally I wouldn't.

Thunderbolt....I will tell you the best way I can as I told Hot Rod. I am an extended warranty inspector. After being a mechanic for many, many years. If your going to keep this vehicle I would buy the (Chrysler factory) warranty. No aftermarket warrantys but the real Chrysler Corporation Extended Warranty. It is very good and will cover your failures with next to no hassle provided you live up to your part. A engine for your truck (long block installed) about 5 to 6 thousand. Is that worth it or not? I also agree some of the aftermarket warrantys are crap....you get what you pay for. I've seen claims that shouldn't have been approved but were from Chrysler and some that should have been bought that were not from aftermarket companys. So you decide if you want a GOOD warranty of waste your money on the second best (I suspect an aftermarket warranty from the dealer) that saleman won't be anywhere around when the inspector is looking at your truck and the adjuster tells the adviser that claim is denied. Contact me for more info or meet me at the Blue/Gray Ride.....

After 40 years in the service department, buy an extended warranty if you will keep the vehicle.  But as was said earlier by the Chrysler warrantynot an aftermarket one.  The money you save won't equal the money you lose on the aftermarket.

I've got over 300,000 on my 96 Dodge diesel and it purrs great!
Only thing i,ve done was put "rotors and brakes" and a "Starter" on it, can't beat the "Cummins" !
Have some in town with over 900000 on them getting ready to turn a million!

Would not buy anything but factory when it comes to warranty.  Went about 200,000mi on my last Dodge with the 5.9L Cummins.  The extended warranty came in handy and definitely more than paid for itself.  Bought the factory extended warranty on my '07 Ram 2500 when I picked it up and have not used it.

My company has an '02 Ford F250 that we did not get the warranty...New tranny at 90,000mi - $3,600.00...D'oh...Thank you Ford!tickedoff

Anyway, factory warranty is the way to go...Smiley
