I've been looking for the '99 Goldwing Engine guards that wrap around the outside of the valve covers.  Haven't had much luck finding them.

Came across these and just curious if anyone else has tried them.  What do you think?  Are they stable enough to mount my highway pegs on them?  Curious..... ???

I cant see a purpose for that thing.........I mean its only mildly unattactive, if it served a huge purpose I could get used to it.  When I had my crash the normal crash bar kept the valve cover from contacting the ground....that thing looks like it will get bent INTO the valve cover and do more damage than if it wasnt there at all (possibly)  just my thoughts on it since you asked

I agree, Chris, as far as crash protection..... but I'm looking at it as having options for mounting my highway pegs.  I'm only 5'4-1/2" and with the limited mounting options on the stock engine guard I will inevitably touch the valve covers.  If anyone else has these, and says they are sturdier than they look, they may serve my purpose.  Since these bolt on and are not the welded design I saw on the Goldwing, I dont know how sturdy they would be for my purpose.

Can't help with the stability question,
but I do think they look kind of neat.

Hey girl, long time no post! Me being also short legged I mounted my Kury ISO duallys, I believe, under the valve cover. Where the chrome gaurd comes out and attaches to the round part of the gaurd. Never had a prob with the heat on my leg but I do where high boots tho. It might be a possibility for you. Maybe some of the other short legged Valkers will post on what they do. I like the looks of the new gaurds.

As a thread highjack, you doing Hog rock this fall? Since the CBR is no more we do not have a fall ride to attend. Was thinking about this rally. Depends on the weather to, gets cold early up here. Have to see as time gets near and whether Sturgis breaks us to much this year.. Kit want to get near St Lou to see Gary & Rosie.

Hey Fudgie!  Haven't talked to you in a while.

I have my Kury pegs mounted where you are talking about, and they've done ok so far.  I just happened to see a Goldwing with guards around the valave covers once and thought "Thats what I need!", been looking for sometihng like them ever since.  Yes, I've been silly enough to ride the valk in shorts and sneakers, and I've burned my leg everytime. (Guess the big DOH! goes right here huh??  LOL)

As for the fall, you missed a good time at the HogRock in June, and as it stands I plan on going to HogRocktoberfest in Oct.  It would be really great to see you and Kit again.  I can introduce you to some really great people to party with while you're down here.

Are you going to Boogie in a couple of weeks, or are you going to Inzane?  I'm planning to be at Old Shawneetown Street Rally (in Illinois) that weekend.  If you dont have definate plans yet, it would be great to see you at OST.  (hint hint, nudge nudge LOL)  Evil

No Boogie for us. Its usually near the same time as Wetzelland in Ohio and everyone says Wetzel is sooo much better. Better bands and party. Had plans to do Wetzel again and IZ but she lost her job so those are shot. I plan on going to the pre rally party for a few hours tho. Sorry cant make OST.  Embarrassed Maybe this fall we'll get together.

You might be able to get these Kuryakyns with the long arms and point them back to where they're easy
to reach... just don't point them down to where they'd drag...

Where did you see pics of me from HogRock?  I'm afraid to ask what pics you saw, yes I was having a *very* good time.  LOL

We need to get the 2 Valks to a local bike night, turn some heads and such.  =)  I'm up for a ride when you are!  Call me  812-204-8700 (cell)
