I got a offer today... I told that I have $ 8000.00 in accessories on the bike, and if I should decide to sell, I would pick some parts off and move on to a potential new bike. He said OK, you can disassemble 10 pieces and my bid of $ 23,500 remains. Well, if I say yes I will have to find me a new Valk. I can actually get a 2003 for $ 17,000 included freigt and all taxes. BUT... I would be without a bike the rest of the season I'm not sure if I manage to do this. I must admit that I am a little confused now. I have never had in mind that I would sell my Valkyrie. I love it, it is almost a full-fledged family member. And another problem is, what should I disassemble and move onto a new one? I have gone through this list again and again. I can not decide what to remove (if I decide to sell) Please HELP... :'( What should I keep? Some of my favorite things are marked with * 1 Ultimate Lowrider mark 2 seats * 2 Kury Akyn turn signal mirrors 3 Custom Cam Covers 4 Dynatek Dyna 3000 * 5 Viking Motorcycle Performance Exhaust System * 6 PERSONALIZED Radiator Grille Cover * 7 Chrome Rear Carrier 8 Chrome switch housing 9 National Cycle Windshield 10 Big Bike Parts Radiator cap cover 11 Big Bike Parts Chrome oil dip stick 12 Kewl Metal Reservoir Clock Mount 13 Kuryakyn Ergo Dually ISO Pegs 14 Transmission Side Covers 15 MC Kool Kovers kit 16 Rivco Front mount air horns 17 VRCC LOGO BACKREST PLATE * 18 Progressive Suspension 440 Series Rear Shocks 19 Kuryakyn ISO Grips 20 Kuryakyn Extended ISO Throttle Boss 21 Clear tail lights LED Tail-light with clear lens 22 Chrome Neck over 23 Rytek Exhaust Tips 24 Coffee Tumbler Holder 25 VTX 1800 Headlight * 26 Garmin Zumo 550 GPS 27 Pull-Back Risers 28 Chrome Intake Covers and Spark Plug Cover 29 Deer Alert 30 Chrome Front Axle Cap 31 Big Bike Parts Solo fender rack 32 Custom World rear Passenger Grab Rail 33 Front Caliper Chrome Covers 34 Motosens Gauges 35 Sirius Fog Lights 36 Kuryakyn Accessory Switch 37 Kuryakyn The Sound of Chrome Speakers 38 Kuryakyn Chrome levers 39 Kuryakyn Four LED Accent Lights. 40 Cobra chrome Drive Shaft Cover 41 Cobra Billet Driveshaft Bolt Cover 42 High-Gloss polished fork legs 43 Chrome Fork Nut Caps 44 LED LOAD EQUALIZER 45 Kuryakyn Universal Handlebar Accessory Mount 46 12V til 220V Converter 47 Kuryakyn, L.E.D. brake light 48 Big Bike Parts LED radiator lights 49 Tourer Hard Bags w/custom paint 50 Beacon Lights 51 Handle Mount for iPhone

They're all alike at the core... unless you have a crummy one (you obviously have an awesome one) why sell? Looks like you might make $5,000 on the deal, but for a whole bunch of hassle...

You bought all the bling for a reason.
How long before you would want to have them on a "new bike"?

I bought mine 5 years ago, its a 1997 and it had 18000 miles. 49000 miles on the odometer now.
I could get a 6 year newer bike with all the blings I have now for the price I`m offered.

Newer does NOT equal better... Your current one is a known quantity, if it has any issues, you know what they are... A new bike is an unknown. It might be in perfect condition. But it might have a tranny that's about to fail too. IMHO, not worth rolling the dice when you've got one that's working well for you now... Just my opinion of course...

Dag... I would think long and hard about that, I'm in a similiar position, I quit counting dollars when they exceeded the initial cost of the bike. You love your bike and have many hours logged into maintenance/making it yours. You know you just couldn't ride any stock Valkyrie with no bling, you'd be at it all over again. Do you really want to do that? Do you have time for that? So many bling items are no longer available. Your daughter is getting older, will she make all new video's with you again? Hey if you can sell it for a good price, that's great. Just sayin, you have lot's of blood sweat and tears invested.

Go for it! Keep numbers 1,5,6,17,23,49, & 51 (that's only Put your Leather Lyke bags back on, the custom painted ones are special to you. I know the 03 is not a bumble bee, can you deal with that! And, it's not like you don't have an extra part or two in your shop.

Dag, keep that 97.
I have a 97 with 242,000 + change for mileage, and they will have to pry my cold dead fingers off the handlebars.
DDT is another high mileage 97, his is close to or over 400,000 now.

Sheesh, if I could get $23,500 in the US I'd sell my Valk! Heck, family or not, I'd sell my wife for about that!

Just another consideration - I am new to my Valk, but finding it VERY difficult to find a lot of bling and accessories, and I only want a few of them, nothing serious.
If you give yours up, you might not be able to find them, when you are ready to get them. Unless I just don't know where to look...

Dag, I am with everyone else... when I read the title of your post my first thought was "NO WAY". Keep it brother! You know what you have and you love it... Why trade her in for a newer model.. It has been well known that the very first valks were the fastest. Keep the 97 it is truly a keeper. I will never sell my 99 I/s. It was my first street bike and there is nothing and I mean nothing that compares to the I/S when you are going on a long ride. I have been offered 4k more than what I paid for my tourer just three weeks ago... A gas company worker was across the street repairing a line underground and came by to look at my bikes and was slobbering all over the floor looking at the 98 Tourer. And then he came back to take pictures and make an offer if I would sell. I told him no but there are plenty of these on craigslist... These are my girls and they are not for sale. Keep it!

Dag,
ARE YOU CRAZY??? Come on now let's think this thru. You know what you have, you have worked on every part of your bumble bee. You did that because you LOVE your bike. From what I have seen and read about those mod's and trips your are still "in love" with your bike. So another idea for you to think about, this friend of yours, wants a Valk, so have him buy one and then you can teach him all about it, help him, mentor him to make his Valk his. Your's my friend is more than family to you, it is part of your soul.
JMHO.
Ride Safe and Keep YOUR Valk.

I thank you so much for the feedback. I appreciate your advice. You've confirmed that I am not crazy. I've never had feelings for a vehicle before I bought the Valkyrie. You're right, I just can not sell it. It is a part of me. I do not know the buyer, he just showed up at my office and asked if it was my bike that was parked outside and that he would buy it. He came back today and asked if we have an agreement. I answered NO!

Just talk to those on here that sold their valk and then kick themselves for selling it later on. As they say sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone. I believe you made a very good decision. You may even appreciate your bumblebee even more now...

I have a 99 Interstate I'll sell him. Glad you kept her Dag. There is a bond that people just don't get. it's probably not REASONABLE to feel about our machines the way we DO. But most of us DO, and that's what makes us who we are. Jabba

I got so bad conscience by considering selling my Valkyrie that I have spent the last evenings of washing and polishing. I've even vacuum cleaned and washed the garage so she can feel good.

You've got a lot of groveling to do so that she will think you love her again. It's hard for a lady to overcome rejection.
