Anybody running one and what tire pressure do you put in your tires?

....Chili and I have one...bought it 4 years ago for a trip out to Inzane in Colorado and beyond....first trip with it we WAY over packed...could hardly get the lid closed..(rookie mistake)....but it still handled like a charm...we hit Colorado...Wyoming...South Dakota...Illinois...Idaho ...Nebraska. ...Wisconsin...


.....then we did our Texas trip this spring...hit Memphis Tennessee....Texas...New Orleans...Georgia...Kentucky...Ohio......upon returning home noticed some "cracks"...in the plastic trailer floor where it bolted to the frame...put some epoxy on it...


...just got back from our...Americade and Beyond Adventure....Up State New York....Vermont...New Hampshire...Maine.....had to ride alot of roads under construction...3 - 5 miles of pure dirt roads with lotsa bumps and pot holes....



.....for the most part on ALL these trip...average speed was 75 - 85 mph on Super Slab...trailer handles like a dream...everyone kept telling us...you need a "reciever hitch"..for it to handle really well...horse bunky...out west we were riding out in the Bad Lands on a 110 degree day and I fogot I was towing it....over loaded !

...latest trip we noticed more cracks in the floor when we got home...but to be fair Ive been REALLY abusing that thing....what I recommend is when bolting the trailer to the frame..put some of those big azz washers on both sides to handle some of the stress....and maybe not ride as fast as I do when towing it..  


....cant beat it for the price though...think it was like 699 when we bought it...got it shipped to Chili,s work  cuz if ya ship it to a commercial bussiness its like 50 bucks...we put it togethr in the back yard ....took us the afternoon and ohhhh...4 beers..


...great little buy...especially if yer like us and maybe use it once a year...twice at the most...

...lol...opps....sorry....think we were running like 39 lbs....what ever it said on the side of the tire...we put new bearings and tires on it this spring to avpid any drama on the road far from home...Chili got the bearings and said the guy told her the only bearings he could find to match the ones that came off matched a pinion bearing for a 69 Fiat...but they may just be back woods voo doo....we are going to go back to the same kind of earing it came with though cuz the new tires wore out real fast and Chili swares she could see a "slight wobble" in the one wheel..

39 lbs. in trailer tires is pretty high, but I guess if your gonna overload it you'll want that kind of pressure. 

I've found in a more or less conventionally loaded trailer (I have a Piggy Backer too), around 25 lbs. is about right.

However, there is a pretty reliable way to determine the correct pressure - Load up your trailer so that your ready to go and put some white paint accross the contact patch of the tire, then go for a ride and see what kind of tread mark you leave on the pavement. If it's pretty even accross the tread patch then your pressure is about right. If it's heavy in the middle and light around the edges, then it's too much pressure. Heavy around the edges and light in the middle means too little pressure. Usually putting in around 25 lbs. will be a good starting point.

Also, when the trailer and the bike are fully loaded and rider and passenger are sitting on the bike, the trailer tongue shoud be pointing just slightly downward (forward) toward the bike. This will give you the safest braking in an emergency stop.

16 cubic ft. Ron and it depends how good you can pack.I put 2 duffel bags in mine one for me and one for Judy, tool bag,cooler on the front and plenty of other things.

-If you're thinking of getting one check Harbor Freight ... there Tag-a-Long is basically the same but about half the cost.  I caught it on sale last year for $340.

Regarding the cracks in the box Timbr referred to.

I cut  pieces of thin plywood 18" square, drilled a hole in the center and used that as a washer, top and bottom of the box material.  It gave the bolts more material to hold the box solid.

I pulled it several times every year, my buddy pulled it several times also, including Sturgis a couple of times, and Daytona once.  It had a ton of miles on it.  I didn't use it for a couple of years, a guy that my son runs with said he wanted a trailer,  my kid sent him my way and I sold it.  

He has had the frame, all the brackets and hardware underneath powder coated, the tongue he had chromed, the wheels are polished aluminum, sharp trailer now.   BUT, the box is Harley Orange/Black with a big HD decal on the rear.

PS:   Run 26-32# in the tires.... Depended on how much of a load.   Hard tires the wheels spend more time off the road than they do on it.

I also bought the Goodyear 6 ply tires.   It ate those 4 ply up like candy bars....

If you want a cooler on the tongue, go to a machine shop and have them build you new tongue.   They use 'C' material to do this.  They are just as strong if not stronger than what comes with it.  Buy a cooler plate, bolt it on and you are good to go.
