Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Broussard, Louisiana

« on: July 07, 2010, 06:24:33 PM »

Woke up in Amarillo this morning and either the weather was slower moving out or the weather dude got it wrong.  Last night it was like 80% chance of rain clearing before morning and 30% after that.  Well, I woke up at 7 this morning and it was RAINING BUCKETS - and I do mean buckets.  8 and it was the same thing.  9 was the same.  I figured I would have another coffee and give it 30 minutes and peel out no matter what but it stopped in that 30 minutes.  Went out and wiped off Traveler - she needed a bath anyway and loaded her up.  Took off about 9:30 and sailed down 287 to Decatur and then went east - that saved me from having to ride through Dallas/Fort Worth proper.

Weather was beautiful.  Just a few drizzles but no hard rain.  Did go over some really wet highway, but none on me - sweet.

Stopped for a smoke and what is up with the whole rattlesnake thing in the panhandle of Texas?

Took 380 east through Denton over to Greenville, Texas (bypassing DFW) with a stop in Princeton for a cherry limeade and a nanner split.  Sure felt good with the heat let me tell you.  380 is OK but there is a lot of construction in the start and man, do they have a LOT of stoplights.  Still better than trying to get through DFW in rush hour traffic though - no doubt.

Had to stop at a full service gas station (yes, they still have them) for directions in Greenville and got on 69 and shot south east to Tyler, Texas and hit I-20 east.

Rode down I-20 for 20-30 miles or so and got near Longview, Texas and Traveler was on reserve.  It was 7:30, so I figured it was time to find a $35 room and have pizza delivered again.  Sure am glad that Domino's changed their sauce and crust.  Grin Grin Grin

So, should be an easy roll in home tomorrow and get to see Red and the critters.  Oh yeah, baby.  Sure was an awesome ride up to Colorado but sure is gonna be good to roll home.

Safe winds ya'll.

That place...if it's the one a few miles east of Tyler...I very nearly died in that place...the very top of the hill on the westbound side though. Learned some new things though.

...like "liquid Benadryl" can come in handy?
That story always reminds me to carry the easily swallowed stuff!
Thanks, Daniel.
