Good morning to all. So, all I have to do to install an Avon Cobra 200 tire is remove the "NUT CAGES" from the rear fender of my 97 Valk Standard. I had a 99 Valk Interstate & installed a car tire on the rear. Everytime I got off the bike I would smell burning rubber. I always thought in the back of my mind that I was going to have a BLOWOUT because the tire was rubbing on some part of the bike. That would not be good if I were on an IBA ride or any other ride. I have had two blowouts on motorcycles in 55 years of riding them. And, I was always a long ways from nowhere. Not a pleasant experience as some of you may know. Anyway, if I remove the nut cages I should be able to installed the 200 Cobra...right? Seems simple enough. Thanks for the info. Ride safe. tommy t IBA 1990

I had a 200 Metz on my STD until a couple weeks ago (ran over something sharp) Nut cage mod only and not a mark on the tire or a smell of rubber burning.

Once my nuts came loose, and I heard my fender rattling... I'm sure I didn't tighten properly
when I had stuff apart or something.

I was glad my nuts were still in their cages.  cooldude

That may or may not do it. It seems Honda had a success rate of maybe 10% when it came to centering the fender over the rear tire  Wink
A lot of folks (myself included) had to go to carriage bolts from the inside out on one side after removing the cages. In my case it was a bad move because I didn't like the handling as much and I went back to a 180 after that one 200 wore out.
