The Dragon Check / Yankee Friend Ride ...

My friend's and fellow VRCC members Dave and Julie Weaver are down in God's Country from Indiana this weekend so we took them for a ride...We was going to hit some backroads here in the hood but yesterday they re-opened The Dragon for the first time since a March 2010 rockslide shut it down so we went to check it out.One of the stops along the way...Fort Loudoun Dam.
US 129 IS NOW OPEN
Awesome doo-rag my Yankee friend
Picture below taken on the Tennessee side of US 129 at the overlook on The Dragon .
Deal's Gap was makin' money hand over fist today with the reopening of The Dragon on the Tennessee side.
Everyone in the group made the comment that they did a piss poor job on the mountain...They had to be done yesterday in order to get a huge bonus and it seems they just left these boulders as big as Valkyries hangin' by threads on the mountain.I'm no geologist or road builder but I can see the rush job that was done in order to collect the bonus.( I re-size my pictures for a couple friends that have dial-up and it takes away the clearity of the shot . )

Joe,
Sorry I didn't make it yesterday like I had planned. It is the nature of my business that crap like this comes up at the last minute. They have put a very aggressive schedule together (got to make that cash) so my riding will be kind of on the moment decision time for the next year.
Have a safe trip to Inzane X and I'll try and make it up your way in August or see you down here if you do the Trace Ride.

Great outing it seems.
Joe, say HI to Dave and Julie from Don and Terry in Ky. He might remember us on the ride to the "Downs". You guys have fun and be safe.

My sister just sent me email - said she went across the Dragon twice on Saturday! I asked her
in what vehicle, and showed her a picture of Joe's Valkyrie... she hasn't replied yet... she'll probably
read the email on a phone and the pictures will be the size of a postage stamp anyway...

Great running into you guys at the store yesterday.
We ran the gap this morning at 6:30 . Woke up the squids camping out at the motel/store when we took off from there.
I didn't pass another vehicle until past the overlook when a TN deputy passed headed to the Gap to make up for some lost income.
1 pair of Goldwing rider at the store had been stopped on both runs with only one welcome to TN citation.
