Many Valk owners seem to be continually checking exhaust header nuts and having a leak or finding them loose seems to be quite common. I've just changed my gaskets today and was thinking that there must be a better answer to this. Has anyone tried anything new - like using 2 open 10mm nuts on each stud (one acting as a lock nut), or adding loctite or anything else that may make them more secure. I realise that the studs are fragile things and the nuts are only torqued to 7lb but maybe there is an answer out there .

the doubble nut thing is a good idea but loc tite wont work  because of the heat (the loc tite will never be set)

Once you get them snugged up for about the 4th or 5th time, brass crush gasket settling in and finally getting completely squashed it ends, so your double nut theory is good thought, but won't solve the problem, they will still leak.

I changed over to after market exhaust about 11 years ago.   Went through a series of snugging it up and haven't touched them in the past 10 1/2 years.

I believe this is why these gaskets are used for the GL1500s and are the ones Viking recommended.
