Have had my IS for about 3 weeks and wonder where and how is the best way for the passenger to hold on?  I have the 3 stock luggage cases with chrome protectors.   Roll Eyes

My passengers usually just leans back and relaxes (as much as possible.  Cheesy)  If my passenger feels the need to hold on, they usually hold on to me.

If they have to hold on, SLOW DOWN!  2funny Ah kidding with ya. Like Joe said, she holds on to me if needed. Grabs my love handles. When she proads me in the side that means go faster, like spurring a horse! Usually they should be able to hold on with their feet. Turning left, more foot pressure on the right, and so on. I believe Rivco makes passenger grab rails also.

I usually tell them to grab the steel steed 's saddle horn. Most of the time end up with  slap in the back of the head. Grin

I'll start a box of worms here.

On a Valkyrie if they need to hold on, they are too damn small to be riding.

Especially on an I/S.

You got a good wide backrest, you got arms to hold ya upright, what the hell else do they need.

You are not riding a dirt bike here.

I have rode on the back of Bob's IS for 10 years and have never had to hold on to anything.  Never felt I had to, feel pretty safe back there.  If  you have to, you can put on some handles that fit under the seat and go above the saddle bags...a friend of mine calls them "OH crap" handles.  Mike Terry has some and Kuryaken has some too...about 100.00 bucks.
