I'm not sure what it's called but I need to replace the inner plastic rotating sleeve on the throttle side of the handlebars. I somehow broke off the chrome cap with the threaded mounting still in the cap. I can't find the part on the microfiche. I assume I will need a new grip, chrome cap and sleeve. Any help on getting the parts numbers and how to replace this part is appreciated.

You could also just replace your stock grips with some aftermarket ones (yeah, can't spell kuriakiankiyakn).
Anyway, they don't use the threaded piece.

Thats a very good idea. It would simplify the installation and I could go with the Kuryakyn throttle assist too.

07 GRIP, R. 53145-MM8-000 001 $26.81 08 GRIP, R. 53145-MM8-000 001 $26.81 10 CAP, GRIP END 53167-MM8-000 001 $5.66 I like the small diameter OEM grips better than any aftermarket grips I know of... I replaced the chrome grips that came on my bike with OEMs... -Mike

You'll need the sleeve too for the OEM...it doesn't come with the grip.

It's hard to tell from the schematic but it show that parts ref. number 07 & 08 have the same parts number and price. I would imagine that I would get two grips if I just ordered by what is shown. Anybody have any insight on this?

08 GRIP, R. 53145-MM8-000 (replaces 53165-MM8-000) 001 $31.92 $26.81 Last time I ordered a sleeve, you had to get the grip. Apparently they come as a package and you can't order the throttle sleeve by itself.

Same here... I mean, I wanted the grips, so that's what I ordered. Was glad to find that the right grip had the sleeve on it... -Mike

To the extent there is any doubt, part # 53145-MM8-000 is the plastic throttle tube with the OEM grip glued to the tube.
Farther, I would assume you could reuse the original cap by removing the broken tube end from the cap, but I also suppose that for $5.66 it might not be worth spending a whole lot of time on it.
The problem with adding aftermarket grips or something else using the existing broken grip is that you need to make sure you keep the grip glue on the OUTSIDE of the throttle tube. If the end is broken off, if will be difficult to keep the glue from getting in between the throttle tube and the handle bar, prohibiting the throttle tube from rotating freely. (Don't ask me how I know).)

Going with the OEM grip was by far the most economical option and I do preferr the slimmer OEM grips over the aftermarket grips. Order placed today with Direct Line Parts.
