I consider Hwy 16 to be one of the premnier riding roads in the east.

Any suggestions for side roads off Hwy 16 as I head north from the BRP to St. Mays, OH ?

58 west from 16 towards Damascus is good. I just got back about an hour ago from riding 16 and 58. Rode 16 from Tazwell down to Shatley Springs, NC ( ate too much) and then rode 58 home. Great ride cooldude

Yep that's a good road to ride unless you get stuck behind a UPS truck hammering up 58 in the fall.

Can't say I've had that experience...
Careful of the gravel on 16 not really that far from me but they must have had some rain that we didn't . Lot of curves with gravel in the road, really sucks when you go from sun to shade in the curve tickedoff

Last year on the way to Gettysburg, I came to a total stoppage on I40... it didn't clear up for
hours after everyone turned around and went the other way. I took the first exit behind us and
went north on a really nice road through great country side... I just double checked the map.... the
road I was on was 16  cooldude I didn't go very far on 16 (I didn't have a NC map, so I hit 90 east at
Taylorsville to get back towards I77) but I've always remembered how nice the north direction was...
I was headed to Wytheville, I can see now that I could have stayed on 16 (instead of slogging
up the interstate) and crossed 81 pretty near Wytheville  tickedoff

Britman,

Dano from N. Virginia.

Once you hit Ohio into Marietta head south on Rt 7 and pick up the triple nickle (Rt 555) north.  Lots of nice roads in SE Ohio.

Enjoy

Thanks Dano, Unfortunately St. Mary's is the northernmost point on my ride.

On the return leg I'm taking 14 south out of Mineral Wells to Spencer W VA and then after looking at Google Earth I'm off on 119 to Danville W VA, then 17 to Man W VA, then 80 into VA.

Hey Britman, just curious how many days your trip will take from Charlotte on and back to Charlotte? I know you said you would be ridding several roads in WV. Going on a few day ride myself the end of the month. May try to duplicate your ride.

I'm asuming you're talking about next week, if you can make it to Marion just ride another 37 miles and stay at the farm if you want to save a few bucks...let us know..
