If we all follow a blind man we will all fall in the Ditch or off the Cliff.

For anyone that has a 401k, Welcome to the Republican Party.

If you want to keep it.

Other wise sorry about your loss of your hard earned savings, but change has it's price.

The Social Securty Lock box does not exist.

Government has been raiding the SS Fund ever since Eisinhower.

There are no funds but what is being paid in by us the participants.

We borrow from say the Chinese to meet these committments.

Now the 401k juicy cow comes along and they want it too.

Your privately held 401k to be raided in the same way.

Not held in trust but paid out and raided for government projects.

No backup of funds and if they go in the hole again , and they will, by by 401k.

So now all those that know Social Security is not going to be there for thier generation,

have to now know thier 401k will also be a sacrificial item as well.

But they will still have to pay into it.

This is scary.

I will now as of this day drop all contributions to my 401k, i can save it just as good myself and bury it in my back yard.

Now I know why people from the 30's did what they did in not trusting the banks.

Hey Al, you really should get a hobby man....other than posting wing-nuttery on the Valk forum I mean.

Then again, this stuff is kinda fun in a "'SANTA'S ELVES REALLY SLAVES FROM THE PLANET MARS!'" kinda way, like the tabloids at the grocery line.

Usually don't go here...but can't resist. I saw the writing on the wall over a year ago and since have watched many friends and co-workers loose their lives saving in differant types of investments. I've changed my stratagies and have not lost a cent, although don't have the gains I was used too. Secured my principal, went conservative.
I also cashed out of all IRA's, various types and accepted the penalties. This goes against all folks good judgement and good advice in normal times. I don't feel these are normal times and believe our great Nation is on a financial dissaster course. We simply can't pull out of the downward spiral  of spending and debt. I have invested in gold over the last year and put aside the cash to pay my tax implications from IRA's. I was able to move my 401K (rollover) without penalty into an IRA and then close out that, because of a layoff I was able to access this money. I have never felt better, even going against everyones advise. Being 100% debt free is a good powerfull feeling. No longer a slave to the man, or any man. I own everything in my life, never go into debt again.

Tundra, good move, not sure about the Gold Thing, due to the fact it's so fricking high right now.

If the bottom falls out, the Gold will always have worth, but it will sell for little less than I would

probably pay for it now.

Debt Free except for 2,400 on the Mean Streak, but it could be paid off with a stroke of a pen.

or a match(just kidding), now watch it catch on fire after saying that. only 4.9% int..on that.

The 401k takeover is the thing I worry about and I am seriously getting out tomorrow, will worry

about the funds transfer after a study period.

Mine is after tax so it is a little more protected from,,, Uncle Give Me It All than some others I know

about.

It is coming , they are going after the Golden Goose and eat her and want eggs from it at the same

time.

I heard one economist say if you can't afford Gold right now, buy things that people will need to avert being without soon.

Just for the life of me I can't think of what would be the best thing to buy besides gold at this point?

On another aspect of this change a coming, they will expect all folks to participate in some sort of 401k , just to keep it going like

Social Securityand want the compaines to kick in like now.

Don't know what that percentage will be , but

in the short term they ain't getting my savings at this point.

But if we are still working and that is s big if, you will paying into the national 401k , so they will have a slush fund wihtout raising taxes on the lower classes.

It's a mess, and going to get worse.

Dad said I would see things we have never seen in our life times soon, Government Motors, wholesale bail outs, 401k takeover, leftists run amock.

But don't tellme later I did not warn all here about the coming changes, YES WE CAN is about to Strike.

I'm right behind you Doug!
I saw this kind of economic downturn on the horizon back in 2008. Kim & I just cashed in enough of our chips to pay off our house, the rest is in a much more secure place than a Stock Market reliant plan. All the rest of the smaller debts {cars, bikes, cards} have been paid up a while back. I have had a bad feeling about the direction of things both in a national sense & a local sense as well. It has paid off. I lost my job of 17 years due to the sale of the dealership I worked for but landed a position at the dealer that bought us. Took a 25% pay cut but due to our lack of any debt we are on relative easy steet compared to a lot of folks around here.

Not sure about other companies 401k's, I was only able to access mine because I was laid off. My wife cannot access hers even with accepting penalties, just plain not an option. She can borrow against it, although must prove a "hardship". I'm afraid she's got no choice, gotta ride it out. Unless of course someone knows of some sort of loophole Roll Eyes
Sidebar... went to a gunshow this weekend and saw MANY folks carrying personal firearms for sale. I mean lot's of folks, more than ever before. I spoke with all of them I could and they all have some hard-luck story, really sad, but some good deals if you have the cash. Most of these fine people were selling off to put food on the table. That was a real eye opener for me, again sad.

My last day was Friday. Absolutely NO severence at all, I guess the multi-millionaire former boss needs $$$ worse than his employees. Roll Eyes
Actually the pay cut comes with a bonus.... WAAAAY less responsibility for me, I am no longer the boss in my dept.  cooldude That is something that I have been looking forward to for quite a while! Anyways I took a couple of weeks off as I don't report to the new place until Aug. 2nd. Gonna catch up on some projects around the house & start to make the '99 Valk super nice. I have some NC Cruiserliner hardbags for it, gonna ditch the CT, ditch the raspy Cobras, & most likely pull the tins to repair the dents then paint it fast black. It will still be for sale but I'll have something really nice to ride when I decide to paint or do any major work on my beloved '97.
I have had several stupidly lowball offers for it or people who look at it either don't want the CT or "must have" hardbags. Also had a couple of lookers say the dents in the tank are scaring them off. Bottom line is I don't need the money it would bring & I love fixing Valkyries up anyways. Good therapy for me! Wink
We'll have to meet up sometime soon on a eatin' ride to discuss our "economic stratigies" in addition to the usual Valk talk.
See ya on the road Doug! Cool

I'm willing to bet that guns and more importantly.... ammo, would be a good investment.  Just look at the price increases over the last few years.   A gun without ammo is a like a Valkyrie without gasoline....  but a gun with ammo could possibly get gasoline for the Valkyrie....    Grin
