I have been trying to build a new shop. I'm way short of storage space and room for toys. So I was looking for bids.
I am going to build a 26' X 38' building to match my house, block and stucco...
Well the first quote came in at $42,000 yes, $42,000.
My neighbor down the road was building a house and with some sharp wheeling and dealing I got him down to $35,000 but no doors or paint.
Well... it's still more than I had in my pocket so...
I decided to wing it.

I found a guy to stamp my plans that I had drawn, for $500. kinda pricey but it's hard to find someone to stamp YOUR plans.
Asked a guy that had done some flat work for me how much to pour the slab and footings. he said $4600.
I told him I had $4,000 for a slab. he said no problem, he'd do the slab for $3,900, and he would do the slab to match the driveway and fix the end of my driveway, smashed by trucks, to boot.

The guys pouring the slab knew of a guy that did block (family) cheap.
Got the block done for $4,200.

The guy doing the block knew a guy that did framing... Family... he set the trusses and decked it for me for $700.

Well the framer had a brother that does roofing, so he came and put my roofing up for $600.

Well oddly enough the roofer's got a friend that does stucco... I guess you can see how this is headed... lots of guys got paid cash to do me a favor, and my shop is coming together for about $20,000 not $42,000.

So all in all I'm a regular at Lowes... But I should be able to come in right at $20,000 with doors and paint
