Give me all the particulars and where I can get it...
What a PITA

There are many ideas on this as there are Valks. Iirc, Daniel Meyer uses Bel Ray Waterproof Grease, which doesn't have moly in it. ChrisJ357 uses Lucas X-tra Heavy Duty Grease which doesn't list moly as an ingredient. I think Punisher is mixing TS-70 with Bel Ray. I am using Valvoline Syn Power Full Synthetic Disc Brake Wheel Bearing Grease which contains moly. The Valvoline I use and the Lucas Chris J uses both meet the NGLI standard. I believe it doesn't matter what grease you use as long as you use a high quality one and perform the maintenance as required. In a recent thread, Daniel Meyer said performing the maintenance and putting things back together IN THE CORRECT ORDER are the keys to final drive/wheel flange longevity, i.e. torque the axle nut BEFORE you tighten the final drive unit's four nuts that secure it to the swingarm. This will insure the final drive and wheel flange are correctly aligned.

You can get excellent moly grease from Guard Dog. Look it up on the internet. They are in Texas. I use it on my Valk and am very pleased with its performance. From what I've read, a high moly content will go a long way to preserving your splines. It's not cheap, but the small amount you use will last you for as long as you own the bike.
Happy riding.

In addition, make sure you replace all three o rings. Coat them with grease and put grease in the grooves. Punisher and I were discussing this the other day and he said he believes people not doing this are causing the o rings to stick and tear letting in water that flushes out the grease and causes rust to form.

Moly is a high pressure lubricant and may not be entirely necessary for that application. With that said I use it (moly fortified grease) for everything.
I find it at the local auto store, just check the labels and look at the price tags, as moly grease is usually more expensive than just plain grease.

Honda specifies a spline paste which is 60% molybdenum disulfide ("moly"). http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Shaft.html

Then how do you explain those who use Bel Ray, which contains 0% moly, not having any problems.

Moly is only the additive in the grease that modifies the grease to give it different abilities. Where cv joints and Guard Dog and Red Line greases use moly Bel ray uses aluminum. Also most use a lithium base where Bel ray uses some hydrocarbon base/oil.

Yes. The same grease I use on the splines and driveshaft. Depending on how bad the corrosion is, you can use some 0000 steel wool to clean it. Do you have a shop manual? If not there are several on ebay, you can order one from Honda and you can download a scanned version from Dag's website, http://valkyrienorway.com/. Also go to ShopTalk and download Kulow's Maintenance Guide. Marty
