OK, I was waiting for the rear Avon to wear out before I pulled apart my '97 to do some high mile servicing but a well placed nail has forced me to tear it down now to replace the tire. Sad   It now has just under 103K & everything except the bearings & brake pads are original.
The parts I have gathered so far:
New rotor & bolts {original is SHOT!}
New pads.
New bearings. {last replaced at 68K or so}
New dampers {Gary's}
Used trike conversion U-joint {> 20K miles}
New O-rings {all 3}
New flange... just in case
What I know I don't have is spline lube as I have had the local Ducati dealer change all my tires so far, but now I have the time & inclination to do it myself.
What kind of spline lube should I get & where to get it?
Any other pieces & parts that I should have on hand?
Other than the well worn rear rotor everything else is good as far as I know. It does have some driveline slop but not excessive for the miles. I'm just one of those guys that wants to do it all while I'm there!
Any suggestions? I have some time to gather more parts while the tire is enroute.

Thanks, Eddie.

I have had good luck with it and results so far.  I bought mine at my local independent bike guy,he ordered it from partsplus.  Check the thrust washer while you are in there.  Tighten the 4 shaft tube nuts last.  Be sure the boot is on around the u-joint on both ends.  The rest you already mentioned.

You asked about rear spline lube.

I have used Del-Ray waterproof front wheel bearing grease since day one.

I get it at the local Auto Parts store, like O'Reilly, Pep Boys. Advance and so forth.   What I get comes in little tubs.

apart, clean everything like new...

  Tighten the 4 shaft tube nuts last.

I have to say something here.......I have seen this put this way a few times and Im not sure you understand the requirement here.  Tightening the drive mount bolts last is a misguided way of describing the process.

To get the best chance at proper spline alignment you should have the right shock removed from the final drive....the 4 mounting bolts loose so the drive can move around on the end of the swing arm.

Place the wheel up into the drive, position the caliper plate and the spacer and slide the axle in from the right to the left. place the axle nut on by hand and then step back...

Make sure the tire is not resting on the floor
go ahead and replace the caliper plate pin to hold the plate in the right place so it doesnt interfere with the wheel drive interface

Once everything is right then torque the axle nut to 81 ftlb  and then you should immediately torque the four mountng bolts since you now have proper spline alignment.  Once the axle and the drive are tight it just doesnt matter what you do next or in what order, but certainely the drive bolts arent done last if you want a pure alignment

The manual and archives are a pretty good source for lube and sequence of assembly.
