2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: July 25, 2010, 06:01:14 AM »

I'm looking for gun values on a couple I'll be getting rid of. Does anyone have the current
"Blue Book of Gun Values"  Mine is outdated, I have the Twenty-Sixth Edition.
If so...I'm looking for the 100% and 90% rating value for each of the following. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1.) Ruger Stainless Security Six .357 (model 117)
2.) Ruger Model .44 Carbine 18.5" Barrel, 4 shot magazine, scope, sling.
3.) Ruger Blackhawk (3-screw) .44 Magnum, Walnut presentation case
4.) Colt Series 70, Combat commander .45 Satin Nickel finish (rare)
Just curious if my outdated Gun Value book is still accurate or not before I price these guns.
Now i'm going to ride my Valkyrie...Valk related.

Tundra:
You may want to shop the Rugers over on rugerforum.net classifieds.  Both the .44 carbine and the three screw may be worth a premium to Ruger affectionados.

We trudge on.

Tundra, I'll trade you my Ex for that Commander (OK I'll even throw in a hundred bucks and some earplugs).   angel

Seriously, if you shop guntrader/broker and gunsamerica sites and type in your models, you will get a pretty good idea what people are asking/selling for.  Most gunshops now want 20 percent for consignments (hell with that).  Do you have decent gun shows in your area?

Thanks all, I'll check out those web-sites to get an idea before this coming weekends gun show in Tampa. Then the wife and I will drag them around and see if we can unload a few. I just needed to know where to start. Then I will work on rebuilding my arsenol with a few choice weapons.

I might suggest you not lug around four (or more) firearms for sale at one time at a gun show (even two each if you will be walking around together, is not a good idea).  Ever since Clinton sicked BATF(E) against all private FFL holders, ATF and other State agencies have a bad habit of walking around gun shows in mufti (plainclothes) trying to catch (and entrap) people for "dealing" without a license, and the definition of dealing has been interpreted to be pretty strict.... maybe only several sales in any calender year.  This has been happening at places both gun friendly (FL/VA/etc) and unfriendly (MA/MD/CA/IL/NJ/etc).  I might carry the .44 rifle and one revolver at one time, maybe two handguns at one time, but no more.  If someone is interested, treat them as if they are ATF... ask for ID, and ask them to swear to you they are not prohibited by law from owning/purchasing.  You can even make up your own little bill of sale with such statements in it for them to sign to have with you (for private sales) (any sale to an FFL holder will be with a full background check, at least on handguns).  Make sure any private buyer is a FL resident.  If asked why you are selling it is because you are nearing retirement and need the money, you are not a dealer.

Perhaps you know all this....... I do not intend to be insulting.

I am doing much the same thing you are....recently traded a mint 6" Python and a couple hundred for a piston driven Stag M4 carbine (M8).  While private sales are best $, I was willing to take a bit of a hit to do a direct trade with a dealer for exactly what I wanted (probably lost $200 on the deal, but all done in one transaction).
