We're planning a quick trip to Rhinebeck, NY and will be in the area for 2-3 days. Anyone have any suggestions on some great roads to ride in MA, VT, CT,NH, etc?
Thanks, Alane

If your going through NH make sure you check out Laconia Beautiful country roads all through there, VT don't forget Ben & Jerry's ice cream, All the back roads in New England are like a Forrest, MASS Cape Cod is a cool place to visit and see some of the coast, You will enjoy getting to your destination by way of 2 lane roads, I can go 2 miles off the island and i am in the woods under trees here in Rhode Island, i will usually pop by the Mohegan sun casino and have brunch in CT and then take the Wife to Mystic and go shopping on the water. ride safe.

What road are you taking into NY? 6 or 80?
If 80 to 287 to NY Thruway SOuth to exit 13N take the Palisades Parkway north to Lake Welch exit (Its the only left hand exit and follow the road up to 7 lakes drive then turn right toward bear mtn
If you can get to Harriman Park there is some nice stuff, including the Cliff Road overlooking Bannerman Island just north of West Point, the Seven Lakes Drive is a nice way into the Park and Perkins Drive at Bear Mountain to name a few, you can cross the Bear Mtn Bridge, go north on 9D to Cold Spring (hang a left at the light to sit right on the Hudson across from a mountain and have an ice cream, then east thru Fahnstock Park to the Taconic north about half hour to the Rhinebeck exit
Let me know when you are coming and maybe I will play hookey long enough to guide you around for a few hours
7 is a nice road in CT especially thru Kent Falls area 84 is a superhighway that will get you quickly into New ENgland

If you don't know where your going any road will take you there George Harrison
When you come to the fork in the road, take it Yogi Berra (Don't send it to me C.O.D.)

Hey everyone, thanks for the suggestions!! Oss~~thanks for the offer. We're not sure how were coming in nor when. We're going to drop our daughter off in Rheinbeck for two days to see a friend so we'll be trailering the bike to that point and leaving the truck and trailer there!
We'll be in touch once we have more details but should be mid-August!

Put in a google maps search. Rhinebeck to Notrh Adams. Continue on Route 2 east. There's a restaurant there. Good food, Great view. From there headup Rte 8 into Vermont. take it to Rte 9. Go west to Bennington. Continue through to NY border. Rte 9VT becomes Rte 7NY take it to Rte 22. Go south on Rte 22 to US 20. Go west on US 20 to Rte 66NY. keep on Rte 66 to US 9 and back to Rhinebeck. But then, there's always Saratoga Springs.

Been livin' and ridin' in New England since '77. When your plans get firmer I can give you a list of places. Really depends on where you want to go, and how far you want to ride. From Rhinbeck into Western CT and MA is a short trip and there are some beautiful spots and roads there. You won't be far from the Berkshire Mountains, and some incredibly nice areas to visit.
