I've seen some kits without the spring for 50 bucks or so on E-Bay but they were not Barnett.
I'm not so sure you should up grade the spring to "heavy duty" or "stronger" because it may put additional burden on all the other stock parts on the bike and cause some failure.
Changing out the plates should be no problem, I just can't understand why, unless you are getting slippage.
An upgrade to a Barnett, to me, is a waste of money if there is no cause and
can
cause more difficulty.
Finally, I don't consider the Valkyrie a good bike to "hot rod" up seeing the nature and the weight of the bike, not saying that's what you are wanting to do.

I did my clutch last summer (july 2009), The rivets went on the thick plate and I considered a Barnett kit until I tore the bike down. I had 60,000 on it and other than the plate with the rivets the rest of it looked like new. I spent much less than I expected.
