Bikers don't need shrinks!

Colleyville, TX

WWW
« on: July 30, 2010, 12:50:38 PM »

Time to get on the team to get VRCC back up on the podium as a top club.  Here is the team page where you can go to set up your free online donation page and track to the VRCC team.  This is the easiest way in the world to get folks to sponsor you with donations (think like a walkathon, but on wheels) http://www.firstgiving.com/process/teamarea/default.asp?did=1335&TeamId=88087&EventId=61822

All you need to do is click on Join Now button on the right and in less than 5 minutes, you'll be all set. It's all free and all you do is set up the page and send a note to your friends and neighbors asking them to donate to sponsor you to help these kids with cancer.  I remember RainMaker using this same method a couple of years back and he brought in well over $1,000 in less than a week.  For every $300, you get an extra ticket for the drawing where you can win a new Honda, a Dunlop tire of your choice, a helmet or a Scala intercom, not to mention helping some kids in need.

Just click here and get started to help save a kid's life.  http://www.firstgiving.com/process/teamarea/default.asp?did=1335&TeamId=88087&EventId=61822

Excellent. We just need to get folks signed up and moving so we can top the field.

For anyone who would like to say hi to fellow Valkyrie rider Jerry Harvey from the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, he will be in town tonight at the RFK volunteer meeting at 7:00 at Spring Creek BBQ at Hwy 114 and Main in Grapevine.

Feel free to use any of my photos to personalize your pages. You will probably have to drag and drop to your desktop to add them to your individual pages.

Sure would be good to see the Valk club on stage again this year! Top club leads the ride next year, just to dangle that carrot. ~Jeff

Great pics. 5 pages and counting, plus Chauffer has one and is already making headway on the general DFW team.

I just checked with Soulman's for internet connection in hopes you guys could bring your lap tops in case you needed help setting up your pages, but they do not have Wi-Fi. If you do need some help with setting up a page, just let me know. I would be glad to help.

It is always good to see the Valk club in the top five clubs on stage! You have been top club before and have a better crack at it this year than in some time thanks to some great individual efforts and club participation in the Charity Run! Start a page and join in the fun!

Two Valk riders pictured here. Jerry has a '99 green/silver Interstate. David representing the DFW VRCC on stage last year...

Those of us that had "offline donations" on our FirstGiving pages have had those contributions removed from our pages due to an upgrade in the software. The new software allows you to credit your offline contributors individually. You will want to log in and do an edit to show those amounts whether you choose to share more details from those contributors or not. You do not have to share as much info as the site would like for you to give them. I personally feel that I should protect my contributors from "harvesting" of their personal info.

If you need any help on the FirstGiving site just let me know. If you would like to upgrade the photo on your page, I can help you there for sure. It is really great to see so many using this tool to raise funds to help the kids.

Now, time for me to send out another round of mailings to my peeps. Hope you will do likewise! ~Jeff

Quick question.. if someone wants to give us a check.. have them make it out to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation?
Just making sure.

Thanks!

Yes, they can make it out that way or just PBTFUS or Ride for Kids. And, for every $300 raised that is received by the foundation by Sept 22, you get an extra drawing ticket for the motorcycle, helmet and tire drawing.  So, I'm suggesting to people that they send in their own registration donation and any money they have collected for donations by the 20th so they get there by the 22nd.  Money collected after that still goes towards premiums like shirts, hats, etc, but doesn't qualify for the extra drawing tickets.  Here's the address and when you send in checks, ask them to send you a "Ride Receipt" for the DFW ride and give them your name and address.  Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation • 302 Ridgefield Court • Asheville, NC 28806

Hope that helps you and others.

Yes, Ma'am, Liz. You got that right. Make it even easier on your check writers. "PBTF" will get er done. If you send those checks to the foundation rather than holding on to them until you register, October 3rd, please be sure to give them your name for individual credit and be sure the funds are also credited to the DFW Ride. Then, go to your FirstGiving page and edit your total raised to include the off line donation.

Here is another refinement being made by the foundation for the first time this year... Get those off line donations to the foundation in Asheville, NC by September 22 via snail mail and they will see that you are credited one extra chance to win the drawing premiums (DN-01 Honda motorcycle, tire, helmet, Scala) for every $300 you send in. Another first - everyone that is 18 and qualifies (does not work for Honda) will get one red raffle card for registering at any dollar amount, $35 or more.

The foundation will harvest your FirstGiving electronic totals from the site with a later deadline, something like 24 hours before the ride.

Let Gary or me know if you have any other questions. I really hope the Valk club is this year's TOP MOTORCYCLE CLUB! ~Jeff
