Rode over Roan Mtn. ,NC, today with a couple of buddies. Great day to
ride!! Coming back towards Erwin,TN, from Bakersfield...speed limit 35...
I was leading, doing about 45.....hit a right-hand, off-camber curve with
some shrubbery semi-blocking the view around the corner. Got around the
shrubs and it turned out it was a decreasing radius turn..a fairly serious one
at that!! I was already drifting toward the yellow line....leaned over pretty
hard..and here comes a Ford pickup....not really OVER the line, but crowding
it pretty good!!! I did the ONE thing I shouldn't have done...I looked at the
truck getting closer to me..."target fixation" they call it. Just like it's advertised,
you go where you're looking!! Seemed like that truck was a giant magnet pulling
me (and the Valk) closer and closer!! "Snapped out of it" in time to lean a little
more and missed the truck's rear bumper by about 1/8 inch....OK, probably more
like a couple of feet, but it seemed MUCH closer!!! If there had been a car behind
him I probably wouldn't be typing this!! Moral of the story (one of many, anyway)
"Never try to push your limits when you've only had 3 hours sleep." That's my
excuse, anyway. Youse guys be careful (and awake) out there!!

How long did it take to break the suction between your and the seat?   Cheesy

Bob glad you lived to type this letter.

One thing I have lerned on not going over the line when over cooking a turn.

Is the gentle application of rear and even front brakes always corrects that situation.

Keep the same lean angle and it will come to you or away from the line if you will.

Careful though when trying this on the Harley the rear brake(Brembo) is strong and can lock up.

Try it sometime in a safe place, you will like the control it gives.

Again glad you made it.
